  1. Fields is not a starter
  2. If they do it, I hope it's not out of necessity (big league club needs relievers/he's not a starter).
  3. Good work! I don’t necessarily think running into outs is always bad. I love the idea of forcing action.
  4. should's back is breaking in that paragraph
  5. lol, light on the Cubs end. Josh Bell is washed and expensive, we'd be doing them a massive favor and at the same time not upgrading the position. It's a terrible trade for the Cubs.
  6. Am I crazy for hoping they give Mervis a real chance?
  7. I don't think Alonso is available for a trade.
  8. My bets: Eberflus - stays Getsy - Goes Fields - I don't have a clue. Not a clue. If it were me, he'd go. He's a backup QB.
  9. there would have to be something really unexpected to happen at the combine for that prediction to come true.
  10. Then you are forcing players to take whatever the offer is from the teams.
  11. Still not getting it. They aren't doing chemistry. They have six long weeks in ST to date and share recipes.
  12. I think you are assuming that they are not preparing for the season on their own. They don't need directions.
  13. He's someone the Cubs should go after. It's less obvious if they are interested given the price tag.
  14. I see this a lot. Chapman isn't in the same tier as Belligner, nor is he a good fit for the Cubs' offensive needs. But we know they like defense (market inefficiency?). I'd be pretty sore if they had an either/or situation and chose Chapman.
  15. Agree. I like the idea of PCA getting a soft landing into MLB. If he's that good, he's worth a lot in a trade or you move Happ or Suzuki to DH
  16. If the Bears are going to trade down, I like NIx. If they are going to wait until a later round my opinion is not to draft any QB.
  17. If they evaluate his performance objectively, they should be ready to move on. He's a great athlete, but not a great or even a good QB. Once he slows down a step, he's going to be even worse. There is a lot of temptation though.
  18. If I'm the union, I'm calling every union rep to try to get the players on board to pay a % for a huge strike fund or at least tell them to set money aside because they are going to war in a few years.
  19. IMB is correct. Collusion is hard to prove, but that's what we are seeing. It's probably tacitly being done, but they are all doing it. They can change the rules of the actual games all they want. But the way they are doing business is hurting the sport from a fan perspective. The currency in baseball should be wins, but it's not.
  20. Yes, it's a gamble for sure. Poles has to be sure if he's keeping Fields. I'd take the best QB, but I understand the logic of trading down. My friend was going on about the locker room being "Fields locker room" and a bunch of other stuff that I just rolled my eyes at while I was talking to him on the phone.
  21. He still has the draft pick attached to him. I'd say Jed is very extremely unlikely to target Hader.
  22. One of my meathead friends actually made a good point the other day. If they trade down and Fields doesn't work out, they still have all the future picks they get as well as the players they drafted with the new picks. It's made me seriously think about it. Even if Fields sucks next year, they will, all things being equal, have a stronger supporting team for whoever becomes the QB.
  23. That's an understatement.
