  1. Or really, just attack FA like he's failed to do thus far.
  2. both JD and Boog were given a multi-year contract in 2022. This could be the final year of the contract though.
  3. Probably the most accurate statement that will be made on this site for a while to come.
  4. When does ST officially start? 2.14? I already have the key to the Cubs making the playoffs but I'm waiting until ST starts to give drop my vast uberanalytic knowledge on all of you peons. Awe hell, I just give it to you now.
  5. Tauchman is a mirage, but yes. I agree with Tim. The Happ extension was a huge misstep by Jed.
  6. Completely on Brand. How about Urias?
  7. Who was the top 10 pick who fell off the list and why?
  8. This post is not about the Cubs but this seems to be the only really active thread about the offseason. I just read the Athletic article on the Dodgers getting Ohtani. Last year they won 100 games. So this offseason was not about winning the regular season. But I was gobsmacked at just how good their offseason is/was SP Ohtani (DH this year) Yamamoto Glasnow (with extension) RF Tescor Hernandez (lets Betts move to 2b) CF Manuel Margot RP James Paxton (could also start) Resign Joe Kelly I know winning the offseason doesn't matter, but got damn that is one helluva offseason with the talent they already have.
  9. So we have Taylor Swift vs. Brock Purdy in the Super Bowl this year. Who ya got? What will you bet on? What are some of the more outrageous prop bets this year? Gambling is not allowed in Alabama so I will not be betting. If I were, I'd bet on KC and take the points.
  10. At least he was nice about the Cubs players.
  11. They probably spend a few days more at home than on the road with off days and when they play the White Sox.
  12. No team in the Central wants to win this year, maybe the Reds by default.
  13. My son wants them on the Warriors.
  14. Baseball is an individual sport played by multiple people at the same time. Although these guys are usually type A super competitive, they also want to make as much as they can for as long as they can. Most are not qualified to do anything else and know once their playing days are over, life begins. They all want to win, but it’s a job first.
  15. I wonder if they have deal to release him after ST is over if he doesn’t make the team. This seems like one of those situations where he trying to get healthy and it costs the Cubs nothing to let him hangout for six weeks
  16. With this group who could blame him. They’re in the almost the same position they were in 4 years ago. The only thing that’s changed is the last name of the GM.
  17. I believe if they can get Bellinger on a 5 year deal they will do it. I still believe it’s not the dollars that are bothering Jed, it’s the years.
  18. defensive metrics and systems have come a long way, but their still not all that great. However, his defense is pretty good by all the metrics and they take into account what you are getting at. His unorthodox throwing style is offputting but he's been a solid defender at 3rd base both from an eye test (except throwing) and measurement.
  19. The Cubs will be playing baseball this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. For how many games? I'm betting he plays less than 70 games.
  21. i figured Rucker would be the man without a chair.
