  1. Having spent their 1 and 2 last season on LBs, I don't see Pittsburgh going with a LB here. Woodley will likely start in place of Haggans next season, and the team is already grooming Timmons to move inside. The Steelers most glaring weakness right now is on the OL. With Faneca likely leaving and the tackle play spotty, I see the Steelers going OL in round one. yeah this is definitely the direction the steelers should go. their O-line play was downright bad the last few games; their lack of depth really showed when marvel smith got hurt. and their center (sean mahan) is just brutal. i know they just signed him to a 5-year deal, but he's a complete turnstile. willie colon isn't very good either.
  2. damn, i thought i had it right with this guy, but he did have another year with more than 200 K's. not sure why his name immediately jumped to my mind... i guess i knew he had 300 K's in a year but didn't do a whole lot outside of that.
  3. bobby crosby???
  4. juan gonzalez??? he's 38, hasn't played in 3 years, and presumably not on steroids any more. come on.
  5. Until two years from now, when he's replaced by an inferior running backs coach just because he happens to be related to a famous coach from the past  awesome
  6. If anyone wants to see a ridiculous save, go to: http://flyers.nhl.com/ then go to multimedia > flyersTV. Jump forward to about 5:00 into the highlights if you don't care to watch the whole game highlight.
  7. flyers up 4-1 after a period against florida. ok, i know florida isn't very good, but the flyers are playing very well right now. timonen is turning it on and has a goal and 2 assists already in the game; hartnell has a goal and has finally found his scoring touch after only being able to score empty-netters earlier this year, and downie (a.k.a. satan) looks like a great fit on the richards line. if lupul gets healthy, we can throw this lineup out there: gagne-briere-lupul downie-richards-hartnell knuble-carter-upshall tolpeko-umberger-kapanen which may not be the best lineup in the league, but certainly one of the deepest. plus, i <3 my sig
  8. after (vomit) rooting for the giants last week, i'm back to rooting for them to lose by 100 points.
  9. my roommate decided to go to the psu-wisconsin game. he better not complain about how bad penn state played when he gets home. it happens every time he goes, psu does the same crap they always do (lots of bricks, bad defense, turnovers) and then he comes back and complains about how much the team sucks. i told him that all year and told him before tonight's game. when you go watch those losers, you should know what you're getting.
  10. can't blame you. plus this is a weak year for wide receivers, you should be gone by mid-second round at the latest
  11. yeah solid first half for psu, getting rolled at home and their best player might've blown out his knee. they probably have about 1 or 2 big 11 wins left this year.
  12. darren mcfadden is the likely #1 overall pick this year; peterson probably would've been the consensus #1 overall pick last year if not for health concerns. i think there is a lot of 20/20 hindsight in this thread. it's easy to say mcfadden won't be as good as peterson because AD had a monster rookie year. but they were regarded pretty close to equally when it comes to ability before this past season. and i do think that health should factor into the "who is better" discussion. a lot of potentially great RBs have been busts because they couldn't stay healthy.
  13. fukudome
  14. sometimes just for fun we do "Over/Under" games at work. Yesterday I proposed an over/under of 5 above for the temperature at kickoff of the giants-packers game. when i left this morning, we had 4 "over" votes and 11 "under" votes. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
  15. i'm not sure which i will choose; i'd just like to say that i'm amused that we have the option to pick both yes and no.
  16. that's a completely pointless comparison. prior is far more talented than marquis; mcfadden is viewed by many as being just as talented as AD.
  17. in your opinion. in my opinion, it would be the most wildly popular playoff in sports, even bigger than the men's basketball tourney No, I'm talking about the sport in general. College football as a whole would not be as wildly popular if it had a full on playoff. And there's not a chance in the world that a college football player would be more popular than March Madness. There's just no way that's possible and there are a ton of reasons why. not to mention that it's not always true that the "best team won" at the end of a tournament, even though everyone says this. was NC St better than Houston in 1983? how about villanova-georgetown in 1985? villanova won the ncaa title as an 8 seed, which is the equivalent of the ncaa football championship going to a team that isn't ranked in the top 25. more than an insignificant amount of the time, the team that wins the title in ncaa men's basketball is the team that happened to get hot and lucky at the right time. i like the ncaa tourney for what it is, but i also like that the team winning the ncaa title in football is the team that was the best for 4-5 months, not 3 weeks. so LSU was the best team all year, eh? better than mississippi state, who was probably the equivalent of 1985 villanova.
  18. i never really thought brady was a whiny baby. now peyton manning on the other hand...
  19. unfortunately it's too late for him to advise krivsky that dusty baker is a terrible manager and should not be hired under any circumstances
  20. according to bill james' win shares book, ozzie smith's teams, in his career, had 500 more assists by shortstops than expectation. that's a lot. add to that the fact that he had a good obp in the prime of his career, walked nearly twice as much as he struck out, was an outstanding baserunner and base stealer, and also was very proficient in bunting, and he's a hall of famer. not even close, really. judging a player like ozzie smith by ops alone is very myopic.

  22. i call eagles, obviously
  23. yes, there's also the regular season, which concludes with teams like indy, gb and dallas sitting a lot of their regulars for the last week or two because they're already locked into their playoff spot. 95% of people who don't want a college football playoff (16 teams, say) feel that way not because they think a playoff would be boring, but because it would cheapen what is the most important "regular season" in major sports.
  24. by the way, i heard on mike & mike that 25 teams have won a playoff game more recently than the cowboys. that leaves only 6 teams with a longer drought. wtg america's team!!!
