  1. can't believe they left out holy cross :x
  2. As usual? Wisconsin might not be built for a national title, but they've proved to be talented enough to get to the final four, elite eight or sweet sixteen. Arguably, Wisconsin has been one of the best, if not the best, Big Ten team over the last 5 or so years. Haha, the best? I assume you've forgotten the Illinois runner-up team? i think he was saying that wisconsin may be the best big 10 basketball PROGRAM over the past 5 years. which is probably an accurate statement.
  3. i have been wondering for a while what it would take to pry matt kemp away from the dodgers. for a "normal" team you'd have to give up a LOT for a prospect like kemp, but colletti's veteran fetish is very well known, and with such a crowded outfield, the dodgers may view kemp as being expendable if they received something of value in return.
  4. dusty would leave him in to go for the spring training no-hitter.

  6. man they played an all-or-nothing schedule. 11 games versus top 50 rpi teams, which isn't bad, but only 3 teams in the 50-100 area, and then they were 17-0 versus teams outside the rpi top 100.
  7. so where the hell does georgia get seeded? their rpi will be around 100, which is bad, but if they hold on, they will have just won four games in four days in a major conference. my guess is that they get a 13 seed.
  8. that's because pie's supposed to be slapping it on the ground every at bat, right gordon wittenmyer?
  9. braun cost the brewers around 25 runs in the field last year, which is really amazing. he has to be one of the worst defensive third basemen of all time.
  10. I would give the edge to Pierre, simply because GMJ can provide occasional pop, and a great glove. Whereas Pierre lone attribute is his speed. So, I would incline to say Pierre got the worst contract during the 2007 offseason, heck you can even say his contract is the worse in the past 15-20 yrs. Mike Hampton and Carl Pavano say hi. those contracts were a disaster because of injuries, though the pavano contract was especially indefensible given his injury and performance history. that being said, i think pierre's really is worse. he has consistently been a -15 glove due to his noodle arm, and his only value is in his batting average, which hasn't been particularly good the last couple of years, and isn't likely to get any better because he's on the wrong side of 30. he doesn't steal bases efficiently enough to make that a positive aspect of his game. his performance last year was basically not far off what his PECOTA projection was, and he was not much better than a replacement-level player. PECOTA projects his value over the next 4 years to be at about $8M - TOTAL - which is less than he's being paid PER YEAR. there is absolutely nothing about that contract that is completely awful.
  11. from what it sounded like in their 2008 handbook, bp thinks patterson's defensive shortcomings are overstated.
  12. You're in. You're still the 3rd place team in the Big XII. And you have the best player in the country. Maybe if you didn't have him, you might get dropped, but there's no way you're out now. I'm sure we're in, but after last year and the things I've seen happen to KSU in the past, I take the attitude in of never being surprised if we're not. Hell, last year we finished 4th in the Big 12 with the same record we have now and won a HUGE game in the tournament vs Texas Tech and STILL didn't get in. Pair that with the #3 football team in the country not going to a BCS bowl back when I was in school, and nothing surprises me anymore. Good lord that 1998 football season still upsets me :) i think you are still the only person in america who was shocked that k-state didn't make the tourney last year.
  13. breaking news from ireland - st. patty's day festivities canceled; brian roberts trade deemed "more important"
  14. kansas 42, texas 38 with 2 minutes left in the first half wisconsin 15, illinois 10 with 9 minutes left in the firt half yup, scoring in the ku-ut game is at a pace better than twice the scoring in uw-ui. also, georgia is hammering arkansas in the early going. teams like ohio state and illinois state cannot like this.
  15. hellz yeah! why do you hate america?
  16. kansas-texas may have more scoring in the first half than illinois-wisconsin has total
  17. and now the flyers are getting completely humiliated by pittsburgh on national tv. keep digging that grave baby... now it's just time for stevens to fall in.
  18. sorry raisin, i was rooting for that last three to go in, just to hear gus explode
  19. come on, even i can make 50% of my free throws
