  1. :?: I think he's in love with Rocket. possible, but i think he's also crushing on abuck. what's a boy in love to do?
  2. injury maybe, crash back down to earth though? his peripherals have always been good, he just had a very bad year for giving up home runs in 2006, and it's not uncommon for pitchers with elite talent to make significant strides in their walk rate during their late 20s (see maddux, schilling, r. johnson). i think it's a very poor idea to write off last year as "fluky good." I don't consider last season to be "fluky", but I do think he pitched better than what he will in 08. He'd be phenomenal if he could get over his blister issues. this is true. he might be slightly worse this year, or he might be better, but even if he is slightly worse in 2008, he should still be a cy young candidate and one of the best pitchers in the game with that offense behind him. as for buchholz, he's got plenty of talent, but the chances of him outpitching beckett this year are very slim.
  3. Yes, it certainly could. How so exactly? By over-extending themselves in those 3-4 at bats in a Spring Training game? If the regulars are healthy, which all but Pie seem to be, play them and get them regular at bats now. That is what Spring Training is for - especially those who have missed time. when people are recovering from injuries, you don't throw them back into everything at full speed, everyday. i messed up my shoulder and when i was done rehabbing it, i didn't just jump in the pool and start doing 4-5 miles a day. that's a good way to get yourself hurt again.

  8. most guys are hitting fine, and some of the ones who aren't (lee) are going to hit. it's not a big deal.
  9. so the flyers took a 3 goal lead against one of the worst teams in the league (maple laffs), but were getting thoroughly outshot all game. the laffs finally chipped away and potted 3 goals in the third, and would've won outright in regulation except for a marvelous save by biron with about a minute left. then the laffs score in OT to win it. when you have a roster as talented as the flyers and you're blowing 3-goal leads against bad teams and getting outshot every night, who do you blame? if you're a normal organization, you blame the coach immediately. hopefully ed snider and paul holmgren have enough sense to see the john stevens is completely outclassed as a coach in this league. and a special thanks to randy jones for the laffs' third goal. jones should get an assist on that play. i can't even count how many goals he is personally responsible for giving up this year. good thing he has been in the lineup night in and night out, but people who actually know how to play good positional hockey and not piss the puck away 20 times a game are sitting and watching from the press box. f*** you stevens.
  10. wtf??? spring training must be heavily anticipated among the young attractive female populations in arizona and florida. lots of young guys, many of them single, with large future earnings potential... and lots of free time in the evening to head to the bar. betcha there's a lot of husband-hunting going on.
  11. i bet he gave you several seconds of dead air to consider how witty and hard-hitting his thoughts were
