  1. To run the Dodgers. I question whether Alderson can succeed without most of his players taking steroids. Most of those good A's teams had Canseco, Tejada, Giambi... mulder, zito, hudson...
  2. Are you sure you're thinking of the right guy? Manny hit .347/.473/.587 for the Red Sox in June when you're saying he supposedly quit on them. okay so he kept hitting well while complaining so much that the red sox were basically forced to trade him. combine that with his age and terrible defense, and that's not a guy that i want on my team for that kind of money. Can't really agree with that. To me, what matters at the end of the day are your numbers. If you're carrying the team I don't really care what you mouth off to reporters about. agreed, which is why i wouldn't sign him. unless he's putting up ted-williams-in-his-prime numbers, his offense not good enough to overcome his terrible defense... at least not enough to justify being paid $27.5m a year for his services.
  3. i hope lou threw some chairs, this team is a mess right now
  4. i went to a leafs/sens game there on thanksgiving. it was probably about 50/50 between sens and leafs fans. that said, they do sell out just about every game, and most of the time they're not playing the leafs.

  6. so even if he wasn't dominant, isn't an above-average pitcher still pretty good?
  7. well file that one under "bad win." oh well, a loss there would've dropped them from "straddling the line between in and out" to "not being considered" so it's better than the alternative.
  8. if penn st loses to indiana they should just cancel the rest of the season.
  9. Bruce's blog: Confirmed in an article on cubs.com. You have to confirm what I've told you? a good message board poster always gets multiple sources.
  10. it's fun to kick ozzie's ass, even in spring training.
  11. uhhhh penn state you're playing indiana.
  12. and then a match penalty for eye gouging. what a douche.
  13. brian dawkins is no longer an eagle... this is truly a dark day
  14. i wouldn't give him that much for part of a season but i'd give him a contract with a low base and lots of incentives. he really has a sense of baseball history and knows what it meant to be associated with the red sox breaking "the curse," and i'm sure he'd love to ride off into the sunset after helping the cubs end their 100+ year drought.
  15. ooh $27.5M per year for a 37 year old corner outfielder who's terrible defensively and quit on a team last year? where do i sign up for that?
  16. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9274196/If/when-Manny-signs,-will-he-be-happy? Funny. I bet if the roles were reversed, Casey Blake turned down a couple contract offers, and Manny made that exact same quote, people would be blasting him for being a clubhouse cancer or something like that. that's because manny WAS a clubhouse cancer last year.
  17. yeah what a shame that people stopped coming out to the games because they could watch them on tv, right bill wirtz?
  18. what was he doing in 2007-08? he used to be pretty good when he was on the twins.
  19. i'm not sure if miami deserves any pro sports teams, that's just a terrible sports city. people don't give a crap.
  20. the bills pick the next jp losman, whoever that may be. who's up next?
  21. Hes a starting 1b on a non-playoff team and a very good #1 PH off the bench/back up 1b on a playoff team agreed, that's how i view him. actually he probably doesn't project to be much worse than lee over the next three years so if we could find someone dumb enough to take lee off our hands at full price, i'd be all for it.
  22. just wait, on sunday we'll find out that he has the clap
  23. BP and BA both had positive reviews of his defense and seem to think he'll be above-average defensively from day one. from what i can tell, the biggest criticism of his defense is that he's tall.
  24. hell it took me most of last year to get on the hoffpauir bandwagon.
