  1. choose three: matt forte @ sf marion barber @ gb marshawn lynch @ tenn steven jackson vs no tim hightower vs sea kevin smith vs minn right now i've got the top 3 starting... thoughts?
  2. i don't care what the reason is, he looks scary as hell.
  3. yeah once you're done with taxes and agent you're probably at about $6M. you're not exactly living like jay-z after making steve kerr money.
  4. PER through tonight's games: 1 Chris Paul 2 Chris Bosh 3 LeBron James 4 Marreese Speights 5 Kobe Bryant 6 Dwyane Wade 7 Manu Ginobili 8 Carmelo Anthony 9 Dwight Howard 10 Kevin Martin 11 Dirk Nowitzki 12 Tim Duncan marreese speights??? well, he's averaging 14.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg in just 23.3 mpg, and he's shooting 63.5% from the field and 84% from the line. plus his turnover rate is low. he's lousy defensively (undersized for a center) and his defensive rebounding sucked last year (showing some improvement there so far), but he's pretty exciting when he's in the game.
  5. that's because those players CAN do something like that - going to good teams to try to win a championship in the twilight of their careers. i'm sure a player like kerr would have left the bulls if he could have gone to a middling team and score 25 points a game for $12M a year. but guys like kerr and horry can't do that because they're not talented enough. great players hanging around trying to win a championship isn't proof of anything.
  6. that is such fail
  7. http://www.downgoesbrown.com/2009/11/nhl-suspensions.html friggin hilarious.
  8. well by the end of his current contract steve nash will have made over $100M and he's probably going to be in the hall of fame, while steve kerr made about $16M and is remembered as a role player on great teams, so this seems pretty damn easy to me.
  9. already have a handful of results to report, courtesy of yahoo sports: atlanta def. carolina 28-20 oakland def. kc 13-10 arizona def. seattle 27-3
  10. there's no week 10 thread yet... anyway, i'm changing my lineup in yahoo fantasy sports, and apparently atlanta has already beaten carolina 28-20 and arizona beat seattle 27-3.
  11. cashner had a poor outing today - 3.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 4 FO/0 GO, 69 pitches/44 strikes. vitters is 0/2 as the dh - ground out on 0-1 pitch and pop out on first pitch.
  12. he did line out twice and put the ball in play all five ABs. it's probably been a long year for him. last year he only played short-season rookie ball; this year he's played a full season and now is in a fall league. wouldn't be surprised if he's pretty tired by now.
  13. i'm having a hard time caring about the sixers. i'm generally not disposed to caring about the nba anyway, but the sixers just seem to be on this treadmill of mediocrity. i'd actually care more if they just went all-out bad but then built a base like okc has right now. iguodala is a nice player but in no way can be the star of a championship-caliber team. thaddeus young was a really good pick for where he went in the draft (#12), so were marreese speights (#16), lou williams (#45) and (in my opinion) jrue holliday (#17). but i just don't see the core as something that can win a championship or even seriously contend with teams like the lakers, celtics, cavs, magic, etc.
  14. jermaine dye is God-awful defensively, as has been pointed out out in this thread. if you're going to get someone who is horrible at defense, even in the corner outfield, you'd better go the adam dunn route and find someone who you know is going to mash. dye isn't even that good a hitter any more, and he's getting older. this would be a horrifyingly-bad acquisition.
  15. torii hunter is definitely not a gold glove outfielder any more. and as usual these went to good offensive players when the good-glove, no-hit guys get ignored.
  16. castro has a first pitch fly out, 0-1 line out and 1-0 ground out today. brenly has a pair of singles.
  17. nice job eagles, you losers.
  18. great play, mcnabb gets sacked and our offensive lineman blows out his knee.
  19. catch the ball maclin

  21. go eagles
  22. huge game for holy cross, they and lafayette are both undefeated in the patriot league and are nationally ranked. i'll be listening to this one online; hopefully can find a place where the video is being streamed online too.
  23. i don't see what's so surprising they were losing by 17 points to a team over which they were favored by 10 points.
  24. vince young is 8-10, 105 yards, and just ran for a td. go vince go.
  25. wtf seattle?
