  1. in other action today, peo javelinas leads peo saguaros 24-13 in the 8th inning. that's a baseball game.
  2. castro went 2-4 today: line drive single to cf on first pitch, stole 2b ground ball single to rf on first pitch, stole 2b fly out to rf on 1-0 pitch ground out to 3b on 1-0 pitch brenly went 1-4 with an rbi double. cashner: 3 IP, 4 H (1 double, 3 singles), 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 63 pitches/41 strikes, 2 GO/3 FO. russell: 1 IP, 1 H (single), 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 9 pitches/9 strikes, 1 GO/0 FO.
  3. i loved iverson when he was in philly, but he has no ability to play second fiddle at all, and at this point in his career he doesn't have anywhere near enough left in the tank to be the top dog on an nba team. given that mix, he's basically done.
  4. lol @ the guy who fired the three off the side of the backboard.
  5. nice offense ucla.
  6. maybe that's why tebow never takes a snap from under center... too gay for him.
  7. [expletive] this officiating.
  8. there are reasonable arguments against the decision that belichick made - saying that the call was arrogant is an absolutely terrible one, so i'm not shocked that a lot of sportswriters are saying it.
  9. i've never really looked into how they do the seeding for the i-aa playoffs, but since holy cross is finally in this year, i'm doing so now. unfortunately they do most of the first round matchups based on geography, meaning that the winner of the patriot league usually gets the dishonor of playing the winner of the colonial, which is almost always a strong conference and usually sends a team to the "final four" if not the championship game. most projections have holy cross playing at villanova, who might be the #1 overall seed. the good news is that i'll be in new jersey the first weekend of the fcs playoffs and it would be an easy drive to see us play. the bad news is that we will almost certainly lose. kind of annoying that a team like new hampshire might get to travel out to weber state for a game they'd be favored to win, while we probably get sent to be stomped on by nova. wish they'd change the way they do the seedings so that when the patriot league actually has some pretty good teams, they don't automatically get beat by the colonial winner.
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4655239&name=lebrun_pierre duncan keith conspicuously absent A team can only afford a certain amount of 7 million dollar dmen. I actually think with Hossa under contract and coming back, the Hawks may be smarter to push to get Keith done long term and let Kane walk. They are going to have to move Campbell in order to keep Keith and Seabrook. Obviously that needs to be done. i don't see how they can move campbell - teams these days generally will not take on that sort of contract unless it's for an elite player, and campbell is not an elite d-man - but i do think the hawks need to find a way to keep keith. from what i've seen, retaining him should probably take priority over retaining either kane or toews.
  11. he is pretty damn fat.
  12. i think it's because dick and rod are each euphemisms for penis.
  13. That guy is really stupid. For one he calculates the results and hey going for it was the better choice. Then he says football is played on the field as if saying playing the percentages is stupid. Umm yeah you go ahead and do what makes you more likely to lose and I'll go with what's more likely to win. Plus going for it is saying my offense can beat your defense i.e. he was deciding the game on the field. I don't think the calculator was meant to be serious. For one thing, it allows the individual to choose their own odds. I could have made the decision to go for it grossly wrong and then come over here and say "I IS RIGHT !!!1!! YOUZ RONG!!!1!" Same with you. This analysis is a lot better. It also says I'm probably wrong. to counter that analysis, i have this piece on nfl.com, which provides absolutely no statistical evidence to back up the writer's assertion that the decision was a massive blunder. though he does say that the colts defense felt disrespected, which i'm sure had a lot to do with the outcome of the play.
  14. these teams both blow.
  15. has simms ever looked good? (aside from games against baylor or utep)
  16. same can be said for wisconsin. same bad non-conference schedule, convincing loss to the conference champ (ohio st), home loss to the #2 team (iowa), bunch of wins over the middle of the road and bottom of the barrel big ten teams.
  17. if they get the first down they have 3 downs before a punt and 1:57 to go. the first play takes them down to, say, 1:52 and the colts call time out. the next two plays take them down to about :20-:25 and then they punt. the game wouldn't be over but assuming they get the ball off on the punt and put it toward the sidelines, the colts have to go something like 60-70 yards in 15 or 20 seconds. getting the first down there basically gives the colts next to no chance at winning the game.
  18. if it were the bengals-steelers game, i would not have liked the call because both of the defenses were playing well and the offenses were not having great games. but both offenses went over 400 yards in offense and moved the ball pretty easily throughout the game. is anyone really confident that, playing with 2 minutes and 1 time out, the colts couldn't have driven the ball 70 yards on the pats to win that game? i sure as hell would rather take tom brady in 1 play to get 2 yards than put the ball back in the hands of a great qb against an average defense. there is going to be massive criticism of this move, though, because it goes against conventional wisdom and probably 90% of former players, sportswriters and fans cannot think outside the box.
  19. going to this one... hoping that a win gets us a home game or at least a winnable matchup in the first round of the playoffs.
  20. exactly. it's basically the odds of (very good offense fails on 4th versus struggling defense AND very good offense scores touchdown against struggling defense on 30 yard drive) versus (very good offense scores on 70 yard drive against struggling defense). i suspect the odds probably favor the call that belichick made, despite the conventional wisdom.
  21. that was a classic al davis pick.
  22. 55 pass attempts, 9 rush attempts. wtg reid/mornhinweg.
  23. nice defense eagles. way to get a stop when you need it.
  24. Sure, why not? Maybe because you don't have a good football team? Neither of us do. I don't get what you're arguing. Did I say the Bears had a good football team? My point is that last weeks loss to the worst team in football shouldn't be forgotten, and it most likely will be after this win. the packers didn't lose to the rams.
  25. donovan mcnabb may vomit in exhaustion by the end of this game.
