My pick is Pierre and Wilkerson.

Not too keen on Wilkerson...but would love to get Pierre as long as we don't have to give up a whole lot, but by the looks of it we probably will have to.

Who do you think JH will get this week, if anyone?

I'd much rather have Wilkerson than Pierre.

Much, much rather.

It seems very unlikely that the Cubs would have interest in Brad Wilkerson as a CF. If they acquire him, it will be to play RF.

Levine reporting on ESPN1000 Lugo and pierre top priorities. OF being looked at are Dunn,Huff, basically what we've all speculated.

I'd rather have Wilkerson, but if Hendry acquire Lugo, Pierre and Dunn, We'd be in damn good shape, IMO.

Oh they'll be "after" all of the available players yet Hendry will aquire none of them. He's already missed the boat on Giles, Castillo and to a certain extent, Pierre, who's to say he won't miss the boat on the remaining players?

I feel the same way.... :(

You can't miss a boat you don't intend to take.

Why not? He's a better defender than Pierre.

Do you think that the realities of the situation matter to the Cubs?

The Cubs have shortstops Neifi Perez and Ronny Cedeno both in the mix. Cedeno would be better either second or lower in the order, and Perez batted primarily in the No. 2 spot and hit .254 (29-for-114) as the leadoff man this season. Another in-house option as a leadoff candidate is Jerry Hairston Jr., who hit .265 batting first.

"If we start tomorrow with the three guys in the middle who we have in-house and we do a good job of shoring up the outfield, I'd be OK with that," Hendry said.

According to Hendry, Todd Walker is in the picture, too, but other teams have expressed an interest in the second baseman.

...

The Cubs were believed to be one of many teams talking to the Florida Marlins about Juan Pierre, who could lead off and play center field. Pierre batted .276 and stole 57 bases this season with a .326 on-base percentage.

Pierre is plan B for leadoff, Neifi could be plan C. Dusty likes speed.

Dunn, please.

Agree to take Milton and that should grease the wheels a bit.

Hadn't thought about that. Essentially it would just be like paying Dunn what he's worth. What do you think we'd have to send for Milton and Dunn instead of just Dunn?

Didn't we try to get Wilkerson last year and they turned around and asked for Zambrano? Why can we get him on the cheap this year?

If we're making a trade with Wash it'll probably be for Hendry's crush - Termel Sledge.

On ESPN 1000 they brought up the fact that Lugo defensively is pretty bad. If this is indeed true do we want to have another liability out there?

Yet another reason Ronny should play. The report on him prior to this past season was that he was a wiz on D. I saw him play a few times in Des Moines, and I would agree with that.

If the Cubs trade decent prospects for Slappy color me upset. Crimson red to be exact.

And on a side note. Why is Hendry taking every opportunity to dis Walker when he is trying to trade him?

Accepting Milton with Dunn would reduce the cost from Zambrano down to only Prior.

I think you are overstating. I remember last season O'Brien wanted Hill and others for Dunn. Throw Williams, Hill, Pinto and Nolasco/Marshall at the Reds and they'll cough up Dunn, IMO.

Dunn is due a big payday soon, and the Reds won't want to pay it.

No, he retracted that. First, the host thought Lugo made 32 errors last year (wrong). Second, he didn't take into consideration the number of chances. Lugo actually made 24 errors, which isn't great, but he had 310 putouts compared to Furcal's 15 errors and 255 putouts.

The Cubs will not have Pierre, Wilkerson, Dunn, Nomar (:(), Lugo, Burnett, or Bradley on the club come opening day. Or, if one or more of them is on the team, Hendry will vastly overpay. Just a gut feeling. Edited by erik316wttn
