I mean why not?

He was a popular alternative around these parts a couple of years ago.

And there were countless posts around here *lambasting* Hendry for not signing him. Or was it "letting him go to the Mets"...like it was all under his control or something?

Do those same people think the Cubs should look at him as an alternative to filling the hole at SS?

Or maybe was he just not the savior at SS that some of you made him out to be?

Just curious.

so...are you really suggesting him as a solution or did you start this thread to throw out a 'told you so'? after the fact, of course...as it's the only way to go.

Hahahha is this your m.o.? I swear, the next time you make a post that isn't an after the fact contradiction of someone, it will be the first.

Hard to pass them out until after the fact, though.

back to the topic...

He's had so many injury problems the last couple years, I think it's really tough to tell what he'd do if he were completely healthy. I believe the list is back, leg and hand injuries. I'll admit to have been a very big supporter of getting him. I don't know if his game just doesn't play in MLB or if the injuries have done him in. But at this point he seems to be a gamble that we don't need to take.

Trading for Matsui after deciding to not even attempt to keep Nomar would be one of the more senseless moves that the Cubs' brass could potentially pursue this offseason.

Matsui needs a mid or small market at this point to develop his skills under the radar. He doesn't need the pitch-by-pitch microscopic scrutiny a large market brings.

So I do no not see Chicago northside as any better a fit for him than NY from the player perspective. Also, Matsui is neither a better alternative than Cedeno or Walker (the current in-house options) nor current trade possibilities (Castillo). So from the Cubs perspective he also isn't a fit.
