Am I the only one who is intrigued by this? B-squared has proven to be intrigued by minor league talent for proven commodities in the past. We have struggled with a solid southpaw for the rotation in the past. I don't know Zito's salary, but I think he would be a very nice hedge against Woodie's health to go w/ our upgraded bullpen. I agree that adding a leadoff hitter is priority #1 followed by a solid glove at either CF or SS that can also hit at the top of the order. I think adding a lefty starter w/ his kind of arm would be a solid move as well.

Yeah as if Wrigley would actually post here....the gullibility is astounding...

I'm sure he'd be a great fit wherever he goes. That being said, I've never liked him that much. Out of the A's big three, he was the one I always figured would get hammered.

I can't find the link, but I read an article that basically said that Beane doesn't need to move payroll this offseason, so if he trades Zito he's going to really want some talent in return. In other words, if you trade for Zito, you will overpay.

What about Washburn? I've heard him rumored in trade talks as well. I think he's been hurt some but seems to be underrated when healthy.

I dont think hes going to net much in a trade considering hes a free agent.

The problem with trading our prospects to the A's is that very few in our minors are sabre type players, we are much heavier on the tools than production.

He won't get them anything. Since he's a free agent he can't be traded, since nobody owns his rights to trade.

I like Zito, but judging by what he got last season for his top of the rotation starting pitchers, we probably don't have the prospects to snag him.

if we wouldn't have re-signed Rusch, i'd love to go after Zito, but since we have Rusch and a hole in RF, we'd probably better take care of the biggest hole first.
