You are all aware that we pick our draft spots - no one is obligated to pick in a certain spot just because they traded a pick. This has been the case every year so I would assume only Raisin wouldn't have known that in making trades.

I seem to remember that it was at least a consideration after having made a trade the past couple years.

I assumed that, if someone trades their first round pick, the person receiving the pick got to choose the draft position rather than the person trading the pick. Otherwise the system is open to abuse. For example, I'd be able to screw over most of the people I traded picks to by choosing to draft last in the first round and first in the second, with the snaking draft (since most of the picks I traded were in odd-numbered rounds). Although that would certainly help my team out, it doesn't seem right to me. I'm sure Tim was counting on having the first pick in the draft when we made our trade.

Don't let your concious get the better of you NC. Play hardball, screw Tim. He has already won a championship

Sssh don't tell Tim. Also don't tell Raw or Adam.

That's the way I understood it working in previous drafts.

absolutely not. if you traded a pick, its just a first round pick - you still get to choose your draft spot. Since this has always been the case, you should have understood that when you traded for a pick. The reverse of the argument is that by choosing the first pick, you are now choosing to pick 32nd - that is also not fair. Since everyone knew the system, I think this is a risk you take. You should have negotiated the draft spot as part of the trade.

Looking back at what I wrote I think I may have come off as being too harsh. My apologies if I did so. I want this league to be fun, fair and honest, but we should play to win.

Besides no matter where Tim selects the Fight'n Quakers will kick his butt in 06! :smokin:

Thinking about it, I now realize Juan is right about choosing your draft position even if you've traded a pick. I was under a misconception before (I think mainly because this is my first full offseason in the league), but thinking of this past draft I remember that Tim chose his draft position even though he traded his first round pick to me (as part of the trade for Bobby Abreu).

So sorry, Tim, I won't be choosing my draft position based on letting the rich get richer. :D (At the same time, I'm certainly not going to intentionally try to screw anybody over, either.)

Actually, NC, I picked the highest spot in the order possible, which was better for you. If I had done the best thing for myself I would have gone last in the first round.

It was only one spot, but I think we should go on the principle of the thing. :D
