Okay, now I'm confused. If the BCS picks the team that's most popular, then why do the BCS rankings exist? Are they not obligated to give the at large bid to the team with the best BCS score?

My main point is revolving around how much respect ND is getting in the polls. Look at the one loss teams that are ranked below Notre Dame. Georgia, Virginia Tech, how in the world do you justify that? UCLA, Oregon, and to a lesser extent Texas Tech are unjustly below too. Never mind all the two loss teams that have a better profile than ND(OSU, Florida, FSU, Wisconsin, maybe even Auburn). Like I said before, this is a lot like the Cal situation last year. They played USC close, and everyone thinks they're BCS caliber. Except this year they lost a second game at home to a team that's fighting for bowl eligibility. But since everyone loves/respects Notre Dame, they're top 10 material.

Hone$tly...you're confu$ed?

This a thing that really bugged me. ESPN gave the final scores for all the top 25 teams and then the rest. The only time they put up stats was for ND and Quinn.

When did you see that? I saw stats for Vince Young, Brad Smith, and a few others on College Gameday Final.

I didn't say it was Gameday. They were scrolling the scores on the bottom while a game was being played.

Hahaha. In the AP, undefeated Alabama is behind 1-loss Miami, 1-loss Oregon is behind two 2-loss teams (Notre Dame and Ohio State) and 1-loss UCLA is behind three 2-loss teams (Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida).

What a joke.

1-loss UCLA has played a bad schedule and has looked terrible the last two weeks. Can't argue with Oregon but UCLA has been lucky to avoid a couple more losses.

If PSU plays ND in the Fiesta, that would be fun. I think it would be a very good game. Plus it's a warmup for playing in the regular season next year!

Speaking of that, my friends and I began preliminary discussions about going to South Bend for the game next year... it would be a really fun trip.

You should definately go. You will have a blast. Not sure where you live, but if it is near PSU the drive is not that bad. Around 10 hours.

Be careful if you do go, you may leave SB a ND fan

During the VT game they were showing stats for a lot of teams. I find it hard to believe that ESPN would only show Brady's stats. ESPN is not even pro-ND. I am not saying you are lying, I just remember seeing a lot of stats.

If UCLA played ND on a neutral field, who wins?

Edit: Rais, who would you say UCLA's "best" win came against this season?

that may be, but nonetheless, miami is where it is because they started ranked high and lost early. there is no reason to think they are better than other one loss teams except for where they started.

Well, except that they just pasted the living crap out of an unbeaten Va Tech team that looked to have a stronger profile than Texas up to that point, and they did it on the road. Other than that I wholeheartedly agree.

Who has VATEch beaten? I've never been too impressed with them. The Miami game was just confirmation that they aren't a top team.

VT is a good team. They killed BC and Georgia Tech (when they were ranked) and they also beat a NC State team that just upset FSU.

They did not show up at all last night. Vick looked terrible. Their D was not itself. A terrible showing by a good team.

Probably, ND. Before this weekend's loss, I would have been split, but I'd definitely now say ND - UCLA appears to have lost its confidence and there are rumblings that Karl Dorrell has once again lost the team.

"Best" win as in strongest opponent? Cal or Oklahoma. What about ND? Tennessee? Michigan? Neither UCLA or ND has beaten a team that is currently ranked.

More importantly, Oregon has one fewer loss than ND - and they both lost to the same team.

I think Mich is ranked again, 22 I think.

For all the complaining I do about the BCS, they seem to have the most appropriate rankings though.

Oh whoops, I missed that. Michigan is 21 in the AP and Harris and 22 in the Coaches'. Well, Cal is 26 in the AP and Coaches' and 25 in the Harris. So ND's best victory over an opponent is 21-22, UCLA's is 25-26.
