More Manny drama.

Fox Sports[/url]"]According to Ortiz, "Manny is not returning to Boston."

"Manny is living through a difficult situation (in Boston) that only he and his family know and he no longer wants to play there," said Ortiz after arriving early Monday in the Dominican Republic.

Ramirez has asked for a trade in each of his five seasons with the Red Sox, but apparently this one is definite.

"I spoke with him last week before he left for Brazil and he told me that he wants to go to a team in the West," Ortiz, the Red Sox's designated hitter, said.

How about the Midwest?

I think this is Manny's way of getting his last big contract. When/if the sox trade him he is going to want a multi year deal with the new team. I see this guy as being a big problem until he gets that cash.

How much do you all think he should be payed when he gets traded?

Depends on the clause he has in his contract, if any.

If he has no such clause allowing him to demand to be traded, then yes, of course.

Manny will be a Met, you can book it.

Carlos Beltran to the Red Sox, Manny to the Mets.

I'm beginning to think that that is what is going to happen too. Damon will go to the Yankees or Angels. Beltran will become Boston's CF. Cliff Floyd coming here.

So Hoops, 3 minutes after you said we'd be going for a RF or CF, you say Cliff Floyd is coming here?

Actually my source thinks we're going after a RF AND CF. As for Floyd, I think if Hendry brings him here, it will be to play RF.

Wow, a month and a half later I see your response. My question was that you are staying Floyd is a RF. Lets examine Floyd's recent defensive positionings.

In 2002 for the Marlins 3/4 of the time he spent in RF because the defensive black hole, Millar, was in LF, so Floyd got 60 RF games by default. That was pretty much the extent of his RF experience. I've never seen Floyd play for an extended period of time but from what I've heard hes not a great defender, which is what it seems that Hendry is looking for. His RF stats look decent, however that was 350 games ago on his banged up legs (and a small sample size). He was healthy last year and put up good defensive numbers, but thats a risk. It just seems that Hendry doesnt want to be taking risks this year. I like Floyd, but I dont think he is the answer in for the cubs OF.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hendry needs to check into this and see what it would take to get Manny. I know, I know, he acts like a baby, and we don't need his selfish attitude here, but the production is hard to argue with. A HEALTHY pitching staff, a true leadoff man, and Manny would imo get us deep into the post season. Thoughts?

Just throwing someting out there without thinking (this might not be popular) but if the Cubs had the money (they probably don't after the first four signings) I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd brought in to platoon in LF with Murton. Floyd's splits are pretty drastic (IIRC) and I'm sure Dusty would love to use Murton in a platoon if he could. If the Cubs could then acquire Giles or trade for Abreu, you're looking pretty solid in the OF. Maybe even keep Patterson in CF (unless they feel they need a lead-off hitter out there).

wat i dont understand is that why Hendry isnt jumping all over the chance to get the Top OPS for an OF in the league, especially when prospect wise they wouldnt have to pay that much as we would be taking the bulk of the contract.
