I am watching the Sax game on WGN before the game got on ESPN because of the NL game and the color was fine. Then when it switched over to WGN and ESPN the WGN color went fuzzy. Did ESPN do that on purpose to get people to watch it on ESPN and catch their commercials? Are they allowed to make the WGN feed off-color?

How come they never showed the Cubs games on WGN when they were in the playoffs in 2003?

I thought they did in the Chicago market. No?

Oh, that's right, they did.

My bad.

It was just the division series, right?

Yeah, the only games shared are the ones on cable. MLB wants the games available on over-the-air television, so simulcasts are set up in the participants' cities.

I'm pretty sure they did it for game 163 in '98, as well.

Interesting, that game was on FOX too.

Are you sure? i'm pretty sure i saw the replay on ESPN classic not to long ago and it was Morgan & Miller calling the game.

I say FOX because I saw the game at home and didn't have cable at the time. :-k

I'm positive it was ESPN for a similar reason... that was my first semester of college and I only had basic cable in my room that year. (Which included FOX but not ESPN.) I had to go to a friend's place to watch the game. Maybe it was on different networks in different markets. A doubtful longshot, but that's my only guess.

ESPN always has the rights to tie-break games so they did do the '98 game.

I have the game on tape. It WAS ESPN doing the broadcast, but like the playoffs this year, WGN got to broadcast it locally in Chicago...using the ESPN feed. My tape is off WGN.

No, that game was on ESPN. I remember being ticked that it was called by Jon "The Giants Announcer" Miller and Joe "I hate the Cubs" Morgan.

I also remember 2000 shots of Dusty playing with his toothpick and thinking, "man, he looks like he's not even paying attention."

I now know he was thinking, "DUDE, I knew we should have gotten Gaetti and signed him to a long term deal before the Cubs swooped in."
