The Red Sox picked up Stanton from the Nationals to face the Yanks. I do not remember a trade that was this late in the season ever before.

So, I guess he had to clear waivers? And, if the Yanks knew Boston just wanted him to help in the series this weekend, why didn't they block it if they could?

 

Maybe they think he stinks.

Nope, "injury" replacements have to have been on the 40 man roster by August 31st in order to be eligible.

I don't think that they want Stanton for the playoffs....just for the 3 Yankee games.
