So, I guess he had to clear waivers? And, if the Yanks knew Boston just wanted him to help in the series this weekend, why didn't they block it if they could?

 

Maybe they think he stinks.

 

Or maybe I don't know the rules.

I think the rule is a team with a better record can't block, but after August 31st the player isn't eligible for postseason rosters.

Nope, "injury" replacements have to have been on the 40 man roster by August 31st in order to be eligible.
