Batting Order:

#1 .282 OBP

#2 .301 OBP

#6 .404 OBP

Bench:

.336 OBP

.359 OBP

Unbelievable.

One look at that and you have to wonder if we'll ever regain some shred of respectability. Everything Dusty touches turns to fodder for punchlines.

I think Baker said on the pregame show that he intended to play Hairston instead of Patterson, but Hairston wasn't available. Not entirely sure about this, as I came in in the middle of the discussion.

BOTTOM OF THE FIRST INNING

Macias grounded out to the catcher, 2-3

Please don't tell me the Gremlin tried to bunt his way on.

No, it was just a chopper that didn't go anywhere. I say bunt when actually bunt the ball.

Oh ok.

I'm still shaking my head over that line-up. If I were Hendry, I would have walked down there and fired him as soon as that sumbitch was posted.

Dusty is intent on destroying our weekend.

Other teams recognize bad management and make changes. The Cubs refuse to accept it and ride out a bad season rather than attempt to improve.

I hate the way this team is run. Your average hot dog stand owner could do it better.

Yes, sac bunt with Patterson when Blanco and Maddux are due up.

My goodness Dusty is a terrible manager. Good thing Dusty has made me not care for a good 6 weeks now.

I don't like the call either... but Blanco is hot lately, and I'm wondering why they even pitched to him with Maddux on deck ???

That might just be the worst lineup of the entire year. :(

question: were you excluding teams other than the cubs? I'm wondering how many lineups there have been in baseball worse than this this season

And why am I just learning now that neifi's middle name is Neftali?

for those of you watching, was it even close at the plate?

No. Burnitz didn't go on contact, and only went toward the plate when he realized Murton was about 20 feet from 3rd base. he was out by 40 feet.

Don't thank him! it's the end of a disappointing baseball season! shoot the messenger!

Murton screwed that up. I love the guy, but that was ALL on him.

It depends if they were supposed to go on contact or not. I would imagine that since the infield was back they were, in which case it's on Burnitz.

How is it possible to go from 2 innings away from a World Series to worthless ballclub in the space of less than 2 years?
