Looks like Prior settled down if he stays out of trouble at the beginning of the game it seems like he's usually ok. How many pitches did he throw? I didn't think he'd last 5, even.

Wellemeyer was warming up before.

Could Corey Patterson be any worse? Even he has to try to see only 5 pitches in 3 at bats today. I've seen guys go in slumps before, but it is completely clear to everyone but Dusty that Patterson will swing at anything just to get off the field. Sad to think he was a possible all-star just two years ago. Now I'd like the Cubs to Hutchinson him off the roster. Heck, he can't even field anymore. Worthless!

Why bring Prior back out after 95 pitches through 5? He's your hopeful young ace who's been taxed early, you've got extras in the bullpen, you've got a lead, he's got a "leg thing", and nothing real to gain... Edited by JGalt73

Off the foul pole!

They shouldn't have called him back up when they did. Wish he would show some signs of life so the cubs could trade him for something.

Maybe he told Dusty he really wanted the win.

Nice catch by JHJ.

Prior said he felt good enough to pitch after he collided with Marcus Giles and then went on the DL for a month. I don't leave that decision up to him because he has a chip on his shoulder about people calling him injury-prone. Like the attitude but don't trust it when you need to make a decision about his health.

I'd want to leave it up to the millionaire manager, but he was dumb enough to let Prior pitch then and I don't think he's gotten any smarter since.

Why bring Prior back out after 106 pitches through 6? He's your hopeful young ace who's been taxed early, you've got extras in the bullpen, you've got an even bigger lead, he's got a "leg thing", and nothing real to gain...

It's not about pitch counts. Laboring is what matters, not pitch counts. If prior feels good, let him go for it.

The 30+ pitches in inning 1 certainly add to the stress. I don't care how he feels (though I'm happy it's good!).

For all the complaining about Prior not being good

he's given up only 125 hits in 150 IP, 3:1 K:BB ratio, 1.16 WHIP, 10 Wins (should have more) and a 3.6 ERA.

Now it's not 2003 Prior, but it's sill pretty darn good.
