Taveras will soon become the best defensive OF'er in MLB. Of course, the Cubs will run on him when they get the chance and be thrown out by 15 feet.

Don't forget to repeat that process as many times as necessary to cost the Cubs a game/series.

Odd how I didn't include any Cubs on the list? How I could I not include Lee? I am a Cubs fan, Lee should win the GG...

My bias didn't override the stats, what a concept.

So do you buy into the defensive metrics?

Do you think there's alot of room for error in them?

(Note: I'm not arguing with your picks at all, although it's hard for me to not give the nod to Lee).

They're better than nothing, they're flawed, some are better than nothing. Once Litchman was hired by the Cards his UZR is no longer avail...

UZR was the best defensive stat of them all.

I'll have to wait to see what David Pinto's PMR tells us. PMR is the best defensive stat avail.

I know he's not NL, but I'll take Torii Hunter.

He's good, too.

For whatever "Win Shares" are worth, Edmonds is the best defensively (yes, even better than Andruw Jones), and easily the best offensively (yes, much better than Jones) this year.

And Edmonds isn't having a great year, in the minds of MOST Cardinal fans.

Hahha, now win shares mean something to you.

No one cares about gold gloves anymore, except the players and their agents.

thats really a great point. in all honesty, id prefer that cubs didnt win awards or anything, as they dont mean anything, but they make the players more expensive when it comes time to re-sign them. i guess you could say that they also make the players more valuable in trades, but the cubs don't trade players until they get a bad attitude or start playing like crap, so that doesn't really apply.

I think it is often forgotten that with Edmonds playing so shallow, he also takes a lot of hits away that the normal CF doesn't get to because of playing more at normal depth. Yes it makes some plays like last night more dramatic, but he still does make the plays. As for the comparison to Andruw....I would take Andruw over Edmonds defensively anyday...but as an overall player, I would take Edmonds (despite what Jones has done this year). Both are awesome defensively and deserve GG each year.

As far as the 1B GG...Lee may be more deserving than Helton this year, but don't count out Pujols. To me Pujols is more deserving than Lee this year ( this is going from observation, not stats, range factors, etc.)

Wow.

Perhaps I just happen to catch all of Albert's bad days, but I've seen him look pretty bad this year on multiple occasions. I'm not saying he hasn't made some excellent ones as well, but I've watched every one of Lee's chances this year, and I haven't seen him look bad once. He has also saved COUNTLESS bad throws from Aramis. I just don't see how this is close.

Pujols is better offensively, but that should not factor in at all.

Just remember that fan bias works in all directions. I can think of a few games this and last season when Lee was very uncharacteristically bad on more than one play in the field. Now, any non-Cub fan only seeing those games might have a different oppinion of Lee's abilities.

As much as Edmonds is despised by Cubdom, as a baseball fan, I can only say that I would have signed/traded for him in a minute any time over the past six years that he's been a Cardinal. Because, as a baseball fan, I realize that he is one of the best CF's defensively while arguably being the best offensive CF in the game the past six years.

I really don't care how he looks when he makes catches because in the end he makes the catches, throws the runners out and plays shallow forcing the opposing team to hold runners at third. Also, any of us Cub's fans should realize that with 105 victories last season and maybe heading for nearly the same this season, no argument can be made saying that Edmonds' defense has hurt the Cards as a team.

When you say "Pujols", I assume you mean "Albert Pujols", who has the second most errors among major league first basemen?

Well, in fairness to Prince Albert, he also leads the league in total chances. In fact, he leads the league by ALOT.
