I mean, since it's obvious they're going to stick with him as incomprehensible as that is... what's teh minimum it's going to take to get him out of town?

Will he have to start badmouthing the organization? Will both MacPhail and Hendry have to go first? Obviously a losing season won't do it... What friends does he have at the Trib that will have to be let go?

I would have been able to ignore next season, but with talks of extensions and everything, I just want to know what's going to have to happen so that he will either be fired or leave on his own...

I can't believe this organization has ruined the chance this team has presented...

Getting rid of Hendry.

I don't think this is entirely it. MacPhail can tell Hendry to get rid of BAker. Obviously, that's not a priority, even though it's obvious Baker is a real problem...

So even getting rid of Hendry might lead to keeping Baker around... I don't know what to think any more...

What would it take? For someone to pay for my defense at the murder trial.

this is juvenile trash that makes this board look foolish. If you think this type of post enhances the image of this board, well.....

Well, I hate to stick up for Baker...but we did go to the playoffs in '03 and it was ridiculous that we didn't go in '04 (i blame that on the players...baker didn't make them choke). This year has been horrible though.

He shouldn't get the boot for one bad year, but he certainly shouldn't get an extension for the way his team has performed this year. The talent was there even with the injuries, to finish above .500.

What would it take? Anything less than another bout w/cancer or some other major illness, would not do it.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT WISHING PHYSICAL ILL UPON DUSTY. You asked a question, and I'm answering it as realistically as I can.

Let me start this off with I really think Dusty is a bad manager and has done nothing to help this team...however, When thinking about this thread I just thought of an interesting question...

What did the Cubs end up finishing out of the WC last year? 3 games behind houston....

So...just for the sake of argument, say we won 4 more games last year...that's less than one extra win a month.

At that point Dusty would have got us to the playoffs for 2 consecutive years for the first time since something like 07-08...would he still be on the hotseat with the fans now that he is if he won those 4 games? Or what about 1 more in 03?

You can blame the players AS WELL AS DUSTY. But Dusty should have told them to quit whining about announcers, pull their collective heads out of their collective $$$es and played the game with some heart.

Sometimes a club needs a good chewing and Dusty just seems to make more excuses.

If we were winning despite his bad moves, I think not as many people would be calling for his head, but I certainly do not think that he would have much more support from Cubs fans in general.

could always frame him for murder, who's willing to die?

Nah. See Bryant, Kobe. Dusty would not only stay on, but do so at Jim Hendry's behest. The result would make the 2004 Tigers look like All-Stars.

On the upside, you could clean house for '07. Hmm...

But I'm not volunteering as Mr. Boddy, or even Ms. Boddy. :)

Why waste time complaining of and about Baker or contemplating what it might take to rid the Cubs of Baker? Why not accept the fact he's going to be around for a minimum of one more season and wait on Hendry' off-season moves?
