So Mariotti's advice is basically that the Cubs should acquire all of the most coveted free agents this offseason. Genius.

I never read this 'writer' (and I use the term VERY loosely) any more. IMO, Mariotti is just about the worst one out there.

It's not that he critcises the Cubs that bothers me. I mean, call a horse, a horse, but it's his manner of doing so that smacks of childish whining and ranting that makes him unreadable.

There are much better posts here by (name your poster) than his pieces (of dung), and the guys around here seldom spare the rod.

mariotti, for the most part, is pretty bad - however, he does raise some points that need to be addressed in the media. i'm glad that SOMEONE brings dusty's ineptitude to the attention of the average fan, because nothing is going to get done if nobody does.

Mariotti creates controversy just to create controversy. He bashes every Chicago team (even the White Sox who are in first place). He blows everything Dusty and Ozzie say WAY out of proportion. And he constantly contradicts himself. He'll write a column saying why a team is losing, and what they should do to win. And when the team does what he says, and they still lose, he criticizes their choice. (even when he suggested it to begin with)

He's classless, and Chicago hates him for the most part. But he's like Howard Stern. Those who like him read his stuff to see what he'll say next. Those who hate him read his stuff to see what he'll say next. And as long as he's selling papers, he'll have a job.

I don't even watch television shows on ESPN in which he appears in protest. I think it was his column on why he didn't vote Ryno for the HOF on the first ballot where I just tuned Jay out forever.

That was still better than Morrissey's column saying Ryno should never make the Hall -- simply because he played second base!

Anyway, Mariotti has apparently leapt on the Andruw Jones for MVP bandwagon, which should give everyone an idea about his baseball acumen.
