As Santo pointed out, you gotta expect that when you square around too soon.

 

what? you can stand there all day showing bunt. throwing high and inside when the pitcher knows you're bunting is garbage. it's harder to move away from the pitch when squared up to bunt.

 

that's not garbage, it's baseball.

the only move you can make is to lean back. you can't move forward into the pitch and side to side movement is near impossible. it's fine to throw inside, but not head level. that's not baseball.

Wells threw the perfect pitch for the circumstance. It was in a position where it wouldn't hit the batter, but the batter couldn't possibly lay the bunt down. Give the man his props.

Lee lined a single to center field, Perez to second.

Burnitz doubled down the right field line, Perez scored, Lee to third

Torres in to pitch for Pittsburgh

Garciaparra popped out (foul) to the catcher

Walker walked (intentionally)

Barrett grounded into a DP, 6-4-3, Walker out at second
