The Peoria Chiefs have their last homestand (and last regular season games) over the Labor Day weekend, when they take on the fearsome South Bend Silver Hawks and MWL MVP Carlos Gonzalez.

There's almost TOO much amazing stuff in conjunction with the games, but here's the schedule, the promotions and the [tentative] Chiefs starting pitcher over that weekend:

Fri Sept. 2 (7 pm): ProForma Stress Ball Giveaway; Anger Management Night / Jesse Estrada

Sat Sept. 3 (6:30 pm): Fireworks; Video Game Night; Matchbox Cars / Mike Billek

Sun Sept. 4 (2 pm): Special Holiday All-You Can Eat Buffet (ticket info); Vertucci's Big Dog Challenge Finale; Peoria Karaoke Idol Day; Family Fun Day (kids can run the bases, players sign autographs on the concourse after the game) / Angel Guzman

Mon Sept. 5 (2 pm): Special Holiday All-You Can Eat Buffet Pt. 2 (ticket info); Mountain Dew Half-Price Monday; Fan Appreciation Day; Every Fan is a Winner Day / Justin Berg

I'll be attending the Saturday - Sunday - (maybe) Monday games with NSBB posters coldsteel and peajay, among others. There's also rumored to be plans for NSBB luminaries and bigwigs to attend, but nothing is finalized yet.

I might end up going to the Friday game, too.

SO, if you've meaning to get to a Peoria Chiefs game to marvel at the awesomeness of Eric Patterson, Ryan Harvey and Sean Gallagher, you're too late!!! Both EPatterson and Gallagher were promoted! There is still Ryan Harvey to marvel at, and we'll keep the picture of the post-season all-stars up because all 3 of them were fun to watch this year.

There will ALSO be nonstop silent auctions of cool stuff -- with the proceeds benefitting the Red Cross Hurricane Relief efforts -- at each of the last games. See the Chiefs Charity Auction thread for that information.

If you'd like to stop by and say hi or talk about the game or buy us some nachos or beverages, please feel free to do so!! We're very nice in person.

I'll post updated plans here as they evolve...

I edited this post to update it since there have been a lot of changes!

Serena, a buddy and me are planning on going to the Sunday game. Would it be best to buy the tickets right now, or can we just walk up and get tickets. Sounds like it should be a great time, and this will be my first trip to see the Chiefs play. Thanks for the info.

That depends -- if you want to do the buffet option, you have to buy the tickets ($30) by next Wednesday, I think -- the info is on the link in the first post.

Otherwise, you should be fine walking up and getting tickets at the box office the day of the game.

If you don't mind the extra charges (I think it's like $3 for the transaction), check out the online ticketing service they use on the website. It will show you the available seats in each section, and you can decide if you want to lock in front row seats or seats behind home plate, etc. I've done that a couple of times when I wanted good seats for visiting friends. It's a great service.

The whole team signs autographs after the game on Sundays, so if you're interested in that, plan ahead! They do have a gift shop that sells jerseys and baseballs (and very overpriced sharpies and pens) and other stuff.

The games are fun and O'Brien is a great field -- I was surprised at how nice it was the first time I went there.

P.S. If you get there early, you can park along the west side of N. Hightower street (there's a link to a mapquest map in the ballparks sticky at the top of the page) for free.

Check your PMs, CubbieGirl (and yes, it's totally ok to bring people who don't post here). :)

The Chiefs just announced that all tickets for Sunday and Monday are $4!

Even if you reserve them online.

So we've reserved a block of 10 so far behind home plate.

Angel Guzman is now pitching on Sunday. Good times! :D

whelp, since I'm at Bradley, I might as well come to Sunday's game (I cant come to Fri, Sat, Mon due to class and other going ons). So, hopefully, see you all there.

I updated the first post because there've been a lot of changes.

Is anyone else thinking about going to any of these games?
