Is Kerry throwing a reverse slider?

used to be called a 'screwball', now is known as a 'cut fastball'. reverse torque/ spin as a normal curve-ball...

wood gets out of the inning, good job, i really calm down when i c him coming out of the pen.

Yeah. If Wood stays in the pen next year, it seems a waste of starter-quality talent. However, this full-throttle, all-out thing for an inning or two seems to work for him... and keeps the arm serviceable in the process.

"How many times have you seen a player make a great defensive play and then come back and get a hit?"

Not enough, come on Lawton's replacement, Jerry Hairston

Fixed

Colorado announcers still drooling over Kerry's stuff.

They should. :-) Had Prior lasted another inning, they would have seen Prior and Wood back to back. If that isn't an NL hitter's nightmare, I don't know what is. :-)

In the pregame, Kerry said he hasn't used anything other than a fastball and slider out of the 'pen and didn't plan on it. The closest thing Wood threw before was a change, but his change never did anything like that, I don't think.
