Guys and Gals here at NSBB. I want you to know how much I enjoy the forum and what amazing fans you are.

I really like a lot of the people here!

That's why I'm going to take a little break from posting. The Cubs are not playing the best baseball in the world as you know, and I don't want to pile on. You folks deserve better than this.

I'll drop back in from time to time, but I didn't want you to think I didn't like posting here anymore.

To Vance, Truffle and the rest of the fantasy league: I'm still gonna kick all your ___es! :D

ok it's good to know you weren't the jerk, at the game today with cardinals stuff on (he was shown on tv when they mentioned the channels for the games this weekend). Everytime I see a cards fan in wrigley, either in person or on tv, I assume you

Hey don't leave! I actually like your posts, and as for ripping on the Cubs, I'm sure that whatever you say won't be half as bad as what most people on this board are writing about the sadsack losers otherwise known as the 2005 Chicago Cubs, or the $90 Million Dollar Mistake.. whatever you prefer.

Thanks guys. I just know that if this were my team it would be killing me. Ron Santo even seems to have given up.

My Dad won't even talk about them right now. Called him a few nights ago when they were playing, and he was watching Trading Spaces with my Mom instead of the game.

Actually I can't speak for others on here, but last year was way worse than this year. I guess part of that is because I didn't expect anything out of this year's team, but at least they are getting it over with quickly and crapping the bed nice and early. Last year's team had no reason not to make the playoffs, going up against "playing out the season" teams like the Reds and Mets, but the Cubs collapsed the last 2 weeks... choked, basically. I was at the Cubs-Mets game last year where the Cubs blew a 3-run lead in the 9th inning, thanks to Dumpster and Latrocious. That was brutal. This year, it's just a mediocre team getting put out of its misery early. Besides, aside from baseball I root for the Philadelphia teams, so by this point I'm pretty numb to disappointment. I come into every season expecting the team I root for to lose in the most agonizing way possible... so by that measure, this season was relatively painless.

Have you noticed by 9-1 lead so far this week?

Yeah, that's what I do too. I expect the worst and hope for the best. It doesn't hurt as bad that way.

I woulden't stop posting here if I were you.

Its not like you're the kind of Card fan that goes

"LOLZ PUJOLS OWNS LEE."

Your posts seem well thought out, and you're a good fan of baseball. Stick around.

I second his motion... you've been here long enough that people know you're not trolling. Hell, if you start making fun of the Cubs, I might even join in!

I kind of know what you mean. Baseball is so much more fun for me when BOTH teams are playing well. I'm reading reading the TLR book "3 Nights in Augest" (it's about the Augest series in 2003 when the Cubs PROVED they were a better team) right now and it makes me long for high stakes games like those. That said I'm looking forward to going to the game tomorrow and I hope to see good baseball on both sides.

As far as the NSBB goes I just want to say everyone on here has been nothing but class to me and for that I thank you. I wish I could find a Cards forum half as good as this one.

Well, I guess I can't dodge the board as long as Vance's team is kicking my butt.

So, when is the board going to get together for a Chicago party?

I don't know about a Chicago party, but everyone is invited to join me for my birthday party on the 23rd in Jackson, MS as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx take on the Mississippi Braves.

I second that motion. This board is well designed and the fans are very respectful. I like that the mods actually keep the discussions civil and on topic.

I was only speaking nicely about Chicago Card Fan... the rest of the Card fans in this thread are trolls and should give themselves a leave of absence from this board.

kidding!

Trust me, we're all used to this type of season by now. We couldn't call ourselves Cub fans if we said we didn't expect this to happen. The fact that NO ONE on this board has ever seen a Cubs championship will do that to you. Stick around, Cards fans make this board interesting. It's fun to argue about Carlos Zambrano's childish antics and Jim Edmonds new shade of eyeliner.

Three years ago, I would have expected this. I did not expect this, and I am not the least bit okay with it. I fully expect to contend next year, provided Dusty is gone.

In the last 20 years, this is by far the most talent the Cubs have had.

Posted

Last year was by far the most talent the Cubs have had. This year, they got worse in the offseason. I did not expect them to make the playoffs this year.

If Dusty's gone, and Hendry finally pulls some moves worth talking about, then I can see them fighting for the playoffs next year. But if Dusty's still here, forget it.

I wasn't sure the Cubs would make the playoffs, but I was pretty sure they'd win 85+ games.

Either way, the Cards fans should stick around, and hopefully help celebrate Baker's firing.

If Baker comes back next season I might actually change my name to

"OldHappyCardFan"

and cheer for the Cards.
