Being a Cub fan I, of course, loathe the White Sox however, I'd like to see them win the World Series this year. As a former Chicagoan (born and raised) I can say without reservation that no MLB City on Earth deserves a WS more than Chicago. Ideally it would be our Cubs bringing a WS to Chicago but, here's hoping the White Sox can pull it off for Chicago this year.

PS

I do have some doubts as whether or not the White Sox are the AL's best team this year. There's no doubting they've had and are having the best Regular Season but, the Post Season is an entirely different animal. Having witnessed, save for the 1985 Bears and 90's Bulls, so many Seasons and Post Seasons blow up for Chicago Sports Teams, my doubts are understandable. I keep thinking the Red Sox and/or Angels may be the AL's best then, there's the precedent of 1983 when White Sox ran away with a very weak AL West, had the best AL's Regular Season but, lost to the AL's best team that year the Orioles.

I agree. I rather have them win, then the Yankees or Cards.

Agreed. Anyone but St. Louis would be alright with me right now. And I'm sure St. Louis feels the same way about us. But somehow I don't think they have to worry about the Cubs winning a world series this year.

Chicago needs a world series, but White Sox fans would turn it into something horrible. They wouldn't focus on the fact that they were the best team in baseball that year, they'd focus on the fact that the Cubs DIDN'T win it. Instead of celebrating a win, they'd be looking for the first available Cub fan to put down.

I thought of that but, there are plenty of Chicago Baseball fans who need and deserve a WS. The chance to see that WS Trophy paraded down Michigan Ave. is worth it...

Eh, I see you live in Lansing. That trophy wouldn't be paraded around your town, and you wouldn't have to deal with the majority of White Sox fans. Sure you'd catch a little ribbing here and there, but I'm surrounded by Sox fans. Some of whom have already told me that WHEN they win the World Series this year, they're going to join thousands of others in one big party... right outside of Wrigley Field. (Apparently this is being planned on a few websites)

And when I pointed out that they said WHEN and not IF, they went off on me like I just said the holocaust never happened. It'll be a different experience for Cub fans in Chicago than Cub fans in other areas.

I think I'd rather have the Cardinals win because if the Cubs are going to lose to the Cardinals, I'd rather know they lost to the best team in baseball. Also, maybe having the World Series champs in your own division might spark the team a bit more the next year. Hopefully, anyway.

No, it's not. That would effectively taint the whole thing for all eternity.

Yes, I'd rather sit through a new Cardinal dynasty than see one measly Sox title. The Cards and their fans are our neighbors, our rivals, our respected foes. The Sox and their fans are nothing more than the evil twin, mirror universe version of us, they're pure scum of the earth vermin with no redeeming qualities.

Easy. We do have a few Sox fan members of this site and there's not need to insult them like that.

As I posted in the "Rants" section, I don't hate the Sox, and wouldn't mind them winning. If the Sox fans want to be poor sports about it, so be it. Doesn't affect me one way or the other.
