For those of you who haven't listened to a game that's in Chattanooga, their park is built in a location where the highway going through town is past the wall in left. They have a huge net up in an effort to keep the balls from reaching the highway but several still make it to the highway during the games.

First the governor of Iowa is in the booth for a Cubs' affiliate, then DJAXX:

AP[/url]"]DES MOINES, Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack is used to speaking into a microphone, but not the way he'll do it Monday night.

Vilsack will do the play-by-play on the radio broadcast of the Iowa Cubs baseball game with Las Vegas at Principal Park in Des Moines. His chance to call the game is a Christmas present from his wife, Christie, who made the arrangements with team owner Michael Gartner.

Jon, your avatar is great! In addition, if you listen to the I-Cubs game fill me in on what to and what not to do!

Anthem is finished, time for baseball in Chattanooga!

Not a great start for the Chiefs. Matt Weber has a combination of really bad luck and a two pitches hit very hard in the first.

Bottom of the First

Aaron Smith at 3B loses a bouncer in the sun for an infield single

Hulett's seeing eye single goes over the head of Eric Patterson for a single, runners at corners

Hulett steals 2B

Boggs (EPat's Georgia Tech teammate) Ks looking

Emerson Frostad walks on a 3-2 count. Weber not getting the outside corner.

Fasano doubles off the CF wall, 3 runs score. A great relay throw by Eric Patterson had the third runner nailed at the plate ... but Bernard dropped the ball (no error charged).

Hurba doubles off the LF wall, scoring Frostad.

Wishy Ks

Susfield - infield single

Washington grounds out.

35 pitches

4 runs, 5 hits

4-0 LumberKings to the 3rd

Still plenty of time ... Chiefs threatening now in the 3rd.

Ron was talking about something that we probably should've caught. Andy was credited with his 7th save on August 3rd and after he got the save last night he was credited with his 7th save.

Chiefs load the bases with no outs in the 3rd for Fuld, EPatt & Harvey, but fail to score.

I missed the bottom half of the inning, but the LumberKings scored a run on 3 hits and a dropped 3rd strike. Weber is out of the game. Blevins came in with the bases loaded, but didn't allow any more runs to score.

5-0 Lumberkings after 3.

Jaxx down 6-4.

Casey McGehee tries to make a play and flips over the rail of the dugout but the players hang on to him. Casey gets a nice round of applause.

Creighton throws out a runner at home to keep the game 6-4!

Not looking good for the Chiefs; 6-0 LumberKings to the 8th.

Blevins with a solid 4 innings of relief thus far: 2 hits, 1R, 0ER, 6/1

Chiefs weren't able to figure out Cy Bannister. He allowed 2 hits, one a bunt single.

I'm out. Maybe I'll read about a glorious rally tomorrow.

Game time tomorrow = 2:00 pm (broadcast starts at 1:45) for people who need their daytime baseball fix! :)

CUBS OUTLAST JUPITER IN 11-10 CIRCUS SHOW

Daytona Overcame Several Lead Changes, A Rain Delay, Numerous Ejections, And Also Extra Innings To Win Game 1

By Bo Fulginiti

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla—Cue up the Barnum & Bailey theme music and look out for the bearded lady on the flying trapeze, because it sure seemed like the circus was back in town at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Saturday night.

In Game 1 of a three-game Eastern Division series between the Cubs and Jupiter Hammerheads, the two teams engaged in an endless marathon of errors, ejections, and extra innings as Daytona outlasted Jupiter and hung on in 10 innings to win a wild one by a final of 11-10.

The contest featured an eye-popping total of 21 runs, 32, hits, seven errors, 11 pitchers, five ejections and lasted almost four hours, not including an hour-long rain delay that halted action in the bottom half of the third inning.

Cubs starter Randy Wells lasted just three innings because of the rain delay, and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out three for the no-decision. Daytona then used five arms from the bullpen, including contributions from Paul Shappert, Lee Gwaltney, Jordan Gerk, Clay Rapada, and Anderson Tavarez (4-10).

Tavarez was credited with the win after tossing a scoreless 10th frame, when his Daytona teammates finally ended the madness in the bottom half of the frame at the plate.

Cubs outfielder J.D. Westphal reached base on a fielders choice and later scored on a game-winning sacrifice fly from first baseman Brian Dopirak off of Jupiter righty Brian Hoff (2-4), to secure the victory for Daytona.

The real storyline of the night was the questionable umpiring which led to an astounding five total ejections from both sides, as Jupiter manager Tim Cossins and catcher Patrick Arlis were asked to hit the showers early, as well as Daytona hitting coach Mike Micucci, reliever Lee Gwaltney and centerfielder Chris Walker.

Daytona’s offensive charge was led on Saturday by third baseman Scott Moore who went 4-for-6 with a two-run homerun and five RBI’s, in addition to second baseman Issmael Salas who also added a 3-for-6 effort with a double and two runs scored.

With the wild win the Cubs improved to 18-23, as the Hammerheads fell to 14-26 to lose their fourth straight and remain in the cellar of the East.

The two teams will try and get a few hours of sleep and then meet back at “The Jack” for Game 2 on Sunday evening, as the Cubs send lefty Chris Shaver (1-0, 1.50 ERA) to face Hammerheads lefty Paul Mildren (7-2, 3.16 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. EST.

Daytona Cubs 11, Jupiter Hammerheads 10

Gotta love 5 ejections.
