I'm not sure if Rothschild calls the pitches or Barrett does, but I've questioned the pitch selection a lot this year. I'm not talking about location because you can blame that on the pitcher a lot of times, but why would anyone throw Mike Piazza a first pitch fastball anywhere? Then they start Wright off with a breaking pitch. I don't get it.

Glendon is a veteran pitcher. Ultimately, he's to blame because he has the right to shake off any pitch he doesn't want to throw.

I would usually agree with that, but with Glendon's WHIP I'm not sure he's capable of knowing what pitch to throw.

Much respect meant, but that woman in your avatar is gorgeous.

Derrek flies out. He's reaching for everything. 0-3

Sammy Syndrome. "No one else will go get it, so it's all up to me."

Calling it Sammy Syndrome makes it more negative than it is. Sammy rarely had the team's best interest in mind. I think Derrek, like a lot of the Cubs, isn't relaxing at the plate because they look up at the scoreboard and see the hole their in... This team is seemingly always playing catchup (at least lately).

And now Tom Glavine has had a better outing on both defense AND offense than most of our guys, including DLee.

Nice catch by Burnitz. I sure would like a solid outfielder or three.

Cameron strikes out swinging and looks really bad doing so

That's nothing new for Cammie. Super nice guy, great in the field, but whiff king extraordinare. When he gets hold of one, though, it goes a long way.

pitches are generally called from the bench with all but a select few pitchers/ catchers these days in MLB. that being said, Blue is correct in saying the pitcher has final say on selection. when going against the bench call, the pitcher better be right...

How many pitches has Nomar seen tonight?

Can't be more than half a dozen. That last AB was only 2 pitches.

Sheets has a no-hitter through 5.

5 2/3. Jason Michaels ends it. My fantasy team thanks you JM. Now get some runs off Sheets.

It's disgusting that I'm in the position to root for the Phillies to win (even though they lead us in the WC race) because I dont want MIL to pass us in the standings tonight.

Wow, down by 5 and they come out swinging early in the count. -

Nomar will always swing at the first or second pitch. I think a team can live with one or maybe two guys like that in a lineup, but not six or seven.

Kerry will be making his first career relief appearance next half inning.

Talk about baptism by fire. Not making it any better by delivering 2 balls to Cliff Floyd.

I wasn't singling him out. He and Burnitz both decided to ground out early. Macias saw more pitches than both of them combined.
