Well, there I was in Philadelphia yesterday around noon, and I was thinking how neat it would be to stay over there and take in the game last night, but alas, the company had a different idea of how I should spend my time. So, like the good soldier, I got out on the PA Turnpike and started heading for Ohio. Had my CUBS game on the XM radio.... life is good, no? I turned off on I-70 and was heading through Washington, PA along about the 4th inning when all of a sudden, I come around a bend in the road and see nothing but tail lights and the left lane closed up ahead. So, I lay on the brakes and start slowing down when all of a sudden, with no warning at all, KABOOM !!! The tractor - trailer behind me smacks me right in the ass end !!

Bottom line... I was not hurt, but my rear bumper was mangled up pretty bad, and the tractor that hit me (it was a brand new Kenworth) is gonna need a new front clip, radiator, and a whole lot of plumbing. By the time the police got all done with their investigation and paperwork, and I got back behind the wheel to leave.... the game was over !! [sigh] Well, maybe I'll be able to catch tonight's game.

Sounds like a bad day in the office for Mr. Fred. Maybe you should contact your company and tell them that you're shaken up from the accident, and the only cure would be going to the Cubs/Phillies game.

Glad to see you're all right though.

On second thought.......

CUBS are 0-5 in road games with Hornkohl in attendance

Maybe it would just serve to make me feel worse ???

CUBS are 1-0 when Hornkohl is in an accident

The path is clear. You know what you must do.

 No, sarcastic, anything but that !!

What you can't figure it out? You got into an accident, the Cubs won. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Oh well, not every joke can be good.

My heart cannot take another game like last night. Listening to games on the radio because of no cable continues tonight.

Yeah, I'll be watching it on MLB.TV

If the Cubs could somehow pull out a victory tonight they should gain a game on the Astros tonight. Vazquez vs. Ezequiel Astacio, huge pitching mismatch in the Diamondbacks favor, in fact, I believe there's an excellent chance Vazquez shuts out the Astros.

Never doubt the Astros. Last week it was Pedro Martinez vs. Ezequiel Astacio. Pedro pitched like his usual self, but Astacio mowed down the Mets. The Astros won that game.

At some point the better pitcher is going to win out, why not tonight?

I'm not doubting you. I'm just pointing out that the team with the "better" pitcher doesn't always win.

I try and avoid thinking about that series as much as possible. In fact I have it pretty well blocked out of all aspects of my memory.
