A friend of mine told that this morning on XM radio they anounced that several more high profile player have tested positive for steriod and that the names will be anounced later this week. There is a list that is said to contain 1 Cub, 1 Giant, 1 Oriols, 1 Philliy, 1 Tiger, 2 Mets, 2 Astros, and 3 Yankees. I think hes full of crap!

Can anyone confirm this?

I'll bet he's full of crap, too. But just for fun, let's speculate who the Cub would be. Nomar? He was mentioned in Jose's book, I believe. And Jose's 1-for-1 so far :( .

I think your friend is messing with you. But if there were a Cub caught, I bet it'd be Macias. He's hitting .287 for cripes sake. He's gotta be on something. :D

Neifi hit over .300 to the ASB. And he's hit a GS this year..........gotta be him!!!!!

Well,

I hope your right about him pulling my leg. Even if he is right Macias is no a high profile player and wouldn't Nomar be subject to the minor league steriod testing policy sense he has been rehabing in the minors?

I don't think so. My guess is a player gets tested by the MLB after his contract is purchased from the minors. Anybody know for sure.

I sure hope (not to mention doubt) that Nomar hasn't been doing 'roids, but I read an article awhile back after the Jose book came out which made a pretty good case, albeit mostly speculation.

Well Ryan Franklin of the Mariners just tested positive and I don't see the Mariners on your above list, so I am calling this bogus.

Just for the heck of it, if they are high profile, these would be my guesses:

Cub:Nomar

Giant: Bonds

Oriole: Sosa

Philly: Abreu

Tiger: Pudge

Mets: Piazza, Pedro

Astros: Bagwell, Ensberg

Yankees: Giambi, Sheffield, Posada

All hypothetical, but it was kinda fun trying to guess. I think some of the picks are sort of obvious but anyway...

I believe anyone on the 40 man roster (ie w/ a major league contract) falls under the MLB testing policy, while non-roster minor leaguers fall under the minor-league testing. Thus, players like Jamal Strong and so forth are listed as having failed the MLB policy even though they aren't on a major league roster right now.

Anyone else hear this on XM or any other media outlet?

Why wouldn't the league release all the names at once?

And I hope to god there are 2 cub infielders that never show up on a steriod list.

My guess would be:

Cub:Patterson (Minor League)

Giant: Alou

Oriole: Mora

Philly: Thome

Tiger: Ordonez

Mets: Beltran, Reyes

Astros: Ensberg, Berkman

Yankees: Sheffield, Womack and K. Brown

That guy has to be on steriods. There's no other way to explain his ridiculous numbers this year. He's not nearly as good as his numbers have been this year.

Anyone else see the "Big Idea" with Donny Deutch, last night? He had on Jose Canseco and his attorney. They were talking about how flawed the testing was and the steroids can be detected up to a year after taking them. I don't know how valid a point that is, but it could ensnare a lot of guys who used last year but stopped after MLB instituted it's new policy. Canseco believes that is how Palmeiro got caught. He believes Raffy quit but that there may have been some kind of residual that showed up in the urine. Food for thought, and if it is true, we may well see a lot of people getting 10 game suspensions. I think MLB needs to be much more transparent in dealing with the results of these tests, it is a joke that the players can't tell their side of the story after they get caught. I wanna know what they exactly tested positve for and so on and so forth.

If Palmeiro used roids a year ago then he perjured himself before Congress.

Why would Kurkjan be on FOXSPORTS radio when he's an ESPN employee?
