I'm still suprised that there's been so many pitchers caught.

I always think of the huge hitters when thinking of the roids debate, but it seems more and more the pitchers have used just as much.

But there's no telling what he tested positive for. If all MLB is saying is that he violated their drug policy, we don't know if he actually took hard steroids (which is exactly what the league wants).

That's true! I know in Rincon's case, if I recall correctly, it was something in a supplement.............purely taken on accident. While still bone-headed, at least it's understandable.

Again, doesn't the MLB Ass. post the drugs and items that have steroids in them to protect their membership?

What does Joe Morgan have to do with this?

On a serious note, how will this affect Franklin's hall of fame chances?

Yeah, really!!! At least they let Raffy get 3,000. Franklin should have been given a shot at his 300th!

So Franklin gets his name in the paper, and probably misses two starts. I'm sure that will make him think twice about using steroids.

Yeah but what is it the next time 30 days? Thats a lot of cash and if he gets caught a second time that has got to hurt when its his turn for free agency.

Currently:

10 games

20 games

30 games

60 games

year suspension

commissoners right to do what he wants.

What Selig proposed:

50 games

100 games

lifetime ban

I like Selig's proposal.

Ok, here is a question. If I test positive for steroids, and get suspended for 10 games. When do I get tested again? We know steroids can be detected in the body 12-18 months after ingesting them. If you test me again too soon, you know I am going to test positive. How do they keep from re-violating me for the same ingestion? Do they wait a year?

You know, I never thought of that, but that's a hell of a good question.

If you aren't under contract you could just sit out a year or play in Japan. If you are under contract you could retire, then stage a comeback a year later. No one is forcing these guys to play, they can walk away from the game anytime they want.

I don't understand your response.

Uh, I think you may have missed Swordsman's point.

No, I didn't. Re-violating people for the same ingestion of steriods is not even an issue in my opinion. Bottom line is that if a player thinks he has junk floating around in his body that will get him in trouble he should walk away from the game until such time as his body is clean enough to pass a drug test. The number of ingestions is irrelevant.

Maybe they can detect levels of steroids. As in, the drugs may remain in the system, but I assume that there is a general decline in the blood levels (or whatever they measure). If there is another big spike, they could probably assume the player is back at it again.
