Last night two of the sox players got hit. (iguchi and AJ the p", i think).

Today, burhle decides to hit BJ Surhoff in the back. No big deal. Surhoff jsut walks to first. The ump then ejects Burhle.

Well, Ozzy gets pissed, obviously. So I turn up the volume (I had to turn it off, the hawk and dj are horrible) and they are REALLY letting the ump have it. It was hysterical.

Hawk/DJ: THIS IS TOTAL B.S!! SOME OF THESE UMPIRES HAVE NO CLUE, JUST NO CLUE. HE MUST BE ONE OF THEM. I TELL YOU WHAT, THIS IS SUCH B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I was going to die laughing.

I was just going to come post tihs, the best part is this ends Buehrle's 6IP pitched streak because he got thrown out at 5 2/3 . Hawk & DJ are going nuts. And it was Iguchi last night, AJ today. I really doubt AJ was on purpose there were 2 outs, and a full count, he hit his elbow pad. Buehrle hit Surhoffs LEFT upper shoulder (that would be his back shoulder). That's not where a good sportsman would retaliate hit, it was close to his head/neck.

I haven't ever seen an announcer going that crazy. He was really lettin' him have it. Have you ever seen anything like that?

I've never heard an announcer go that nuts. And I listen to ron santo every game.

The most I have ever heard santo say (though it is rather often)

" OOOHHHH come ON!!!!, Where was THAT??!!!!! I thought that pitch was a strike!"

Hawk and DJ are the two biggest homers in the league. If the shoe were on the other foot, and a pitcher from the opposing team got tossed, they be saying it was the right call... and that the Cubs suck.

I actually don't have a problem with them, the only thing I actively dislike about the team is the announcing team and AJ Pierzyanski. I also found the 6IP streak, while impressive for consistency, way over-rated.

Sox fan poster here...

Two things... not trying to fight... just some points:

1. AJ has done nothing at all this season, in any way, to be considered a tool. Who knows what happened in SF. That's where all the rumors come from.

2. I wouldn't expect Cubs fans to love Hawk... but what the heck is wrong with a "homer" (and isn't Santo just as big of a "homer"?)

Hawk is supposed to be one of us. We love that. Santo is supposed to be one with you guys, I assume a lot of you love that.

I don't like the Cubs, so I prefer not to hear Santo cheer them on... but he's doing the right thing! I wouldn't knock him for that.

(His constant advertising for a Hall of Fame spot? Well... that's for another thread...)

I'm sure we wouldn't hate Hawk as much if his calls weren't so annoying. "He gone!" "You can put it on the booooooooooard!! Yeah!!" That, and the fact that he calls the White Sox the good guys and whoever they're playing the bad guys. The same, stale, overused calls get annoying after a while. I've also never heard Santo call anything BS.

Maybe AJ wouldn't get hit so much if his elbow pad wasn't so flippin' big.. O_o

I missed the ejection though.. I turned it off in the 4th. *slaps self*

Santo is a homer, but you won't hear him call a game on WGN TV. Extreme homers like Harrelson should be on local radio, where the listeners are fans of their team more often than not.

If you are going to call a game when millions are watching, you need to be somewhat balanced. Harry was a homer, but the recent teams of Stone/Chip and Len/Bob have been far better at being balanced. Slanted toward the Cubs, but not blatant homers. Games on the superstation are one of the few opportunities some fans of non-Cubs/Sox teams may have to watch their team play, and they shouldn't be subjected to extreme homerism.

Hawk is an obnoxious and biased homer of the highest order, and only Sox fans should have to listen to him. Santo is not quite as bad as he is, and I sure as heck don't think he should be doing any nationwide broadcasts.

And Hawk is horrible. If he was strictly a color guy, it wouldn't be so bad. Saying a call is "BS", yelling and screaming, the good guy/bad guy thing, being silent and pouting when your team is getting hammered....these things are totally unacceptable for a television broadcaster. He calls the game like a spoiled 5-year old. He lacks the even tempered professionalism as a broadcater needed to do games with a large audience. As do guys like Santo and Al Hrabosky.

I have. Z's almost no-hitter or perfect game on the non-error call. Funniest thing I've ever heard on a baseball game. Pat was trying to play if cool and act like nothing happened.
