David Schuester from the score just announced that there seem to be some things developing at Wrigley field. He said that a trade that would essentially bring Soriano to the cubs for Hill is in the works and also, Hendry is negotiating with SD for Dave Roberts.

I would be real happy if we got roberts!

Yucko.

Count me as one of the people who doesn't want Roberts. All he can do is steal, and a career OBP of .335? No thanks.

I feel exactly the same way you do. If we give up Hill without getting Manny or Dunn, I'm gonna be quite upset.

They were just expanding on it.........sounds like Roberts for Hairston is the trade being discussed.

Also, they said Soriano to Twins who would then trade him to the cubs for Hill and a PTBNL

We will see.........

Is Hill anything special or just another guy the board obsesses about (see Jason DuBois) who's far from special.

I dunno, he's got potential. His curveball is devastating, but everything else is kinda average. However, with Wood being as unreliable as he is and Maddux getting old, I don't see how trading Rich Hill is even an option.

Why would the Twins trade him? They need offense badly, not pitching.

It makes very little sense. No wonder its being reported on the Score.

I was just going to say that dealing for Roberts means Hairston is going somewhere. And if they're dealing for Roberts Corey's probably gone after the season.

I'm in the minority but I wouldn't mind seeing Soriano for no other reason than something has to be done to shake up this ballclub. Dealing Walker might be the wake-up call these guys need. Hate to lose Hill though.

I don't get it. I know have read more than once that Hendry's reluctance to give up Hill was the reason the talks for Dunn quieted down.

But now Hill is going to be available?

That may have more to do with the fact that the Cubs and Reds play 16 times a year and the Cubs and Twins don't.

WHich i believe is the EXACT same as JHJ...

Not trying to pick a fight, just wanted to throw that out there.

Have seen this written before. Seems people are overhyping him. I don't care what Hendry's said about not trading him either. Gm's do that all the time to increase value.

Well, I'm not that crazy about Hairston either. I wouldn't mind seeing us deal Hairston, but Roberts is not a guy I want.

Meh.

Hairston career #'s (age 29): .262/.335/.373

Roberts career #'s (age 33): .257/.335/.353

Neither of these guys are all that special. Roberts is probably a short term upgrade given his speed and defense in center.

I am not crazy about either of them my self.

BUT, JHJ straight up for roberts, in my mind improves this club (although not to the extent that we all hoped i am sure)

~OBP, neither has any power, while roberts brings MUCH better Def, and 40 SB to the table.
