Cincy making a good move, Towers making a bad one... It is opposite day? :)

Both organizations have made some really dumb moves recently. I still laugh at the Dave Roberts trade.

Interesting! I have FOX Saturday Baseball on now and they just showed Phile Nevin in SD uniform warming up before the game.

If the deal does go through they will have Sosa, Palmaro and Nevin for 2 positions.

Here's an ESPN article on the situation.

Apparently, according to Nevin's agent the deal has not been approved.

"The Padres have not even asked our approval yet," agent Barry Axelrod told The Associated Press. "If they were to ask for our approval, for Phil to even consider it, I'm sure there would have to be some discussion. He and or I would want to talk with the Orioles and find out what his role would be there."

This is great! I have never seen SD sports radio in this much of a tizzy. But what is even funnier is that the LA radio stations are completely ignoring it.

I guess the Nevin deal makes sense. It has only taken them 2 and half years to get rid of him. I am disappointed though. I was of the opinion that the Cubs could deal Maddux straight up for Klesko and it would work. Obviously it would have if SD was willing to do this deal. Oh well.

I'd guess that Palmeiro plays first with Nevin and the Gladiator splitting time between DH and butchering RF.

Nevin hasn't approved the deal yet and I don't think he will. He really wants to remain in San Diego. It's why he turned down a trade to Cincy a couple years back. The fact that the Os are in a playoff run may help their chances, but Nevin doesn't want to move from San Diego and they have a better chance at actually making tha playoffs than the Os.
