What do Paul Wilson and Jeremy Affelt have in common?

A: Both have been tackled by Kyle Farnsworth during a game.

What?? Did I miss a Detroit-KC game that I shouldn't have?

Yup, bench-clearing brawl, 7 ejections, Farmsworth among them.

It looked like the brawl was coming to a close, then Farnsworth lifts Affelt and body slams him. Classic Farnsworth maturity on display. I guess there wasn't a clubhouse fan close enough. He becomes Detroit's closer and then does something like this.

Nifty 7 pitch inning there for Zambrano !!

CUBS are 37-18 when they throw less than 17 pitchers per inning.... 8-27 when they don't

Go CUBS !!

I don't doubt your stats, but when was the last time the Cubs threw more than 17 pitchers in an inning? Talk about killing your bullpen!

Yeah, I mentioned something about this somewhere between the 4th to 7th page.

Early in the game Hernandez hit two players. After that the Tigers' pitcher a Royal. In the sixth Guilen (sp?) thought he got hit on the foot and started to first, but was called back by the ump. Hernandez was pissed and beaned him in the head. Guilen and Hernandez looked like they might go at it, and the benches were cleared. Bonderman went crazy. Farnsworth went crazy and tackled Affeldt, but I think Affeldt got him in a reverse headlock and went for the piledriver combo before they broke them up.

Just wondering, did you notice you typed pitchers instead of pitches?

Fred,

Have you got any stats on the Cubs' success when the offense sees more pitches than less?

Posted
Zambrano at 86 pitches.

Not much point in letting him go one more.

Z will want to go at least one more though.

Naw, the game is gettin close to being out of hand. I would like for some relievers to get some work in.
