  1. The Ford GMAC Citibank Player's presented by Pizza Hut?
  2. "That's a good idea" "I agree. It's better than Morgan/??????" See--much better. I can't wait! :D
  3. My vote is we import some world broadcasters too. I'd much rather try my hand at Japanese or Spanish than listen to Joe Morgan and the Fox collective.
  4. Can we get Dusty some heavy meds in the meantime?
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2210204 Hmmm...I'm thinking Mr. Fehr and the boys hoped everyone would forget about that "by the end of the Series" comment. Thoughts?
  6. another fine example of how our players and coaches are on the same page!!! Yeah--one takes accountability for his actions! What's he thinking???
  7. OMG, I'm hoping Baker doesn't it. Seriously, I don't know if I can handle 2-3 more years of him. It's beginning to sound like that's the best we can hope for. Bruce, with all sincerity, thanks for the insight. Are the injuries letting Dusty off the hook, and if so, how can that warrant an extension?
  8. Perhaps "SOS--Abandon Ship" would be more appropriate.
  9. No--the other 128 this year did.
  10. Dusty is pathetic. OK, it's just time to laugh about the Cubs again. HA! I want a $100 million organization I can run this way...
  11. Oh, Good Lord, don't say that !!! GIDP?
  12. Sammy and Rickey Henderson could start a "past expiration date" league...
  13. This is just sad--I'm beginning to feel like 2003 was the worst thing that ever happened to the Cubs. 1. The front office let go of the patient building approach thinking they were one or two steps from a World Series. (Previous point from Vance--right on) 2. The public and the front office thought Dusty had everything to do with the 2003 success. They blindly think there's a World Series around the corner and keep the seats filled. 3. Dusty "earns" enough capital to fill out the lineup card and use his pitching staff as he sees fit. Those who call him out (Stoney and others) fight (and lose) an uphill battle despite the facts. It was fun to love the Cubs unconditionally for last two and a half decades growing up as a kid, but I've got better things to do than throw money, emotion, and time at an incompetent organition. I do enough of that at work! I love baseball and the Wrigley experience, but I guess I need to go back to just checking the box score every other week for my own sanity.
  14. So, how do we send the message to the front office that this is unsat?
  15. I went into it with the same thought--Little League always had a system. Then I started paying attention on TV, and saw it in some ballparks. I'm actually having a hard time thinking of any MLB home teams that ARE on the 3B side. Maybe THAT'S been the problem for the last hundred years. Even in High School there wasn't uniformity, all the home dugouts were on the 3B side, except one. I think that team used the 1B side because the sun was directly in your eyes in the 3B side. As for other ML teams, I'm pretty sure the As are on the 3B side, as are the Twins, Indians, and the Chi Sox. Who knew? Thanks for the fill-ins. Didn't mean to hijack this thread. Anybody else have any questions? Bueller?

  17. What paper is it, might I ask? Sorry, logged off before you asked--MBA Paper for Marketing. Only 3-5 pages. 2 Kids slows things down.
  18. Hurray! Cubs Win!! Hmmm, now I have to go write that paper I've been putting off.
  19. [Dusty] Hey dude, Macias needs his reps, to stay in shape, you know what I'm sayin, dude?[/Dusty] I love how they call it a "defensive substitution." How about "obligatory time for the washed up 25th man?"
  20. That's something I've been working on. Will have something up in a day or two. Thanks. I was looking at BP, but all I could find is pitcher abuse. That could be an interesting thread, given our discussion of offensive patience and Dusty. Maybe instead of just doing offensive success in relation to pitches thrown by the other team, Fred also could do offensive success in relation to pitches/PA. Offensive success indirectly leads to higher pitch totals overall because it creates more PAs, so that measurement could be skewed. Radarluv's right--with all this work we're giving Fred, we're going to need Fred bobblehead day on NSBB...Thanks for the work!

  22. It'd be a whole lot easier to get tickets.
  23. Naw, the game is gettin close to being out of hand. I would like for some relievers to get some work in. That's what he was saying. He said to take Z out and getting some relievers some work. Well, looks like that Dusty disagree with that logic. He's letting Zambrano bat. Dusty and logic are usualy mutually exclusive terms...
  24. I don't doubt your stats, but when was the last time the Cubs threw more than 17 pitchers in an inning? Talk about killing your bullpen! Date Opponent Pit IP Fri 07/08 @ Florida 164 8 Thu 07/07 @ Atlanta 167 8 Thu 07/07 @ Atlanta 167 8 Fred, Have you got any stats on the Cubs' success when the offense sees more pitches than less?
