It's time for some light-hearted derision directed at our main adversaries.

Oh my Cardinal hatred runs deep!

From Kessinger, to Beckert, to Banks

My love of the Cubs is great

Lo, through the years they have caused me angst

This has not made my Cub-fondness abate.

A baseball purist, am I

With love for chin music, and no patience for the DH

I may not like other teams, but I try

Like fine wine, the game gets better with age

I am peaceful and kind of heart

There is one thing, however

That makes my responce quite tart

Please, utter the name never

The redbirds of Saint Louis are they

And Oh, does my hatred for them run deep!

If only the league would send them away

This loyal Cub fan would be able to sleep

From Musial, and Gibson, Boyer or Flood

I always wish that they never succeed

Since a Cardinal team playing as a dud,

To me, is better than the best mead

The Mad Hungarian was a bum

And so was Mark McGwire

With all his chemically induced runs

Their consistent play could draw my ire

Many of my Cubs’ seasons they have stolen

Wearing of the ‘birds-on-the-bat’ is revolting

Ah yes, and I hate Scott Rolen

Too bad they didn’t keep Joe McEwing

Oh, my hatred for the Cardinals runs deep!

From the pit of my heart to the tip of my tongue

Like the upper deck at Busch was so steep

My Cardinal hatred is so strong, I wish them all dung.

 :P

G'day!

That even made me crack a smile.

Good..., objective was achieved.

I am bored.

I hate the all-star break as much as the Cardinals.

2 days of pain.

Oh well, guess I'll just go home and drink beer and watch the History Channel...

I don't hate Scott Rolen.

I don't know how anybody could.

There are, as I am loathe to admit, several guys on the Cardinals that are just about impossible to hate.

Of course, that list doesn't include Matt Morris or Jim Edmonds.

But I'm sure they make up for it for the rest of them, right?

I have the same feeling about Lee, I have to admit that he seems like a decent guy. Now I just want to know how he ended up a Cub?

Who do you hate then? Everyone on the Cubs is cool. We don't really have a Edmonds or Morris equivalent (Z has immunity from anything bad) and certainly not a Kline equivalent.

Well Zambrano and Dusty are the only guys I would say qualify for the hate category. I'm not a fan of Garciapara either, but I wouldn't say I hate him. They are much more likeable than last years team, I'll give you that.

Cards fans hate Zambrano as much as you guys hate edmonds, because of that incident a few years ago where he hit edmonds after jim hit a hr the previous at bat.

Makes perfect sense to me. I can't see Carlos being well liked outside of the northside. I have friends who root for different teams that always question how I can like Z. But until you see him pitch in your team's uniform... you'll never understand.

Jim Edmonds is my least favorite person on the planet. I even hated him when he was with the Angels. There's just something about a man that wears eyeliner, and slows down just so he can dive and make the highlight reel that really gets under my skin. (Yes, I know there is no proof that he does this, but he's been accused of it for years... long before he was a Cardinal.)

I can't hate Scott Rolen no matter what. Class act all the way. I like Mulder a lot too (not as much as when he was an A, but still). I actually like Pujols too. I like the way he just goes about his business. If he stays healthy he's going to break every record that exists.

Screw that showboater.

What a wonderful paragraph. Not only are the subjects worthy of high praise, but they are worthy of the lyrical qualities of these few sentences. This is almost a short prose poem. Notice the rhymes: "way" with "A," and later "business" and "exists." Almost an heroic couplet there at the end. And the whole thing has a subtle rhythm to it.

Nice work.

Just so you know that gesture was directed at some people that I won't insult the Cubs by calling them fans who were making some very insulting comments about Isabella, Pujols adopted daughter who has Down's syndrome.

I never heard that, not even from the guy I work with who's related to Albert.

Where did you hear that?

Where Morris? I assume a bleh? Why are Molina and Eckstein blehs?

Nice try. If you want to believe that, go ahead. But like most Cardinals fans, you seem to think that your players can do no wrong and that their actions are always justified.

Did you also know that when Steve Kline showed the middle finger last year in front of a TV audience and lots of little kids, it was not directed at Tony LaRussa? In fact, it was directed at Osama bin Laden, whom he spotted in the crowd!

From game recap on ESPN

After he crossed the plate on his homer, Pujols put a finger to his lips to tell the fans to be quiet. "They were saying a couple of things I didn't appreciate about my family," he said. "You don't mess with my family. You can say whatever you want to me. ... I didn't like it, so when I crossed the plate, I just told them to be quiet."
