Long-term would definatly be Beltran just because of the amount of money/years involved. He isn't as bad as he has been so far this year but he also is not as good as he was hyped up to be last year or even as good as he performed last year.

At the break, I would definately go with Beltre. I think this is mostly because I wouldn't consider Guzman a bust because he has never really been that great. Same with several other players on that list. I have no idea why the Marlins tossed 8 mil to Leiter. Did anybody really except anything from Ortiz?

Also, Ordonez does have an out clause in his contract based on DL time and I am pretty sure he is close to reaching it.

I voted Beltre. He and Sexson were supposed to ressurect the Mariner offense, but he has been a no-show and the team still struggles.

Milton's making over $7 mill a year for basically the same production a single-A pitcher could give. Huge ripoff. Although the Reds GM is an idiot, so I guess he had it coming.

Beltran should've signed with the Cubs and play at Wrigley (where he hits the best)...

Yes.... against Cub pitching.

And Jeff Blauser was a career .380 hitter at Wrigley, remember that argument?

Yeah, how'd that move to Wrigley work out for him?

It always amuses me, because when you say "oh, so and so always hits so well in this ballpark" people often forget it's more than likely because of the pitching staff he faces every time he plays in that ballpark.

Is this a biggest bust or worst acquisition poll? Just because a stupid GM gave a bad player a huge contract doesn't make them a bust. It means that the GM should be fired. Milton has never been all that good and Wright was never good before last year (Mazzone/Cox factor anyone) and failed a physical before signing.

Jaret Wright. If you sign him to a low-cost contract you can opt out of if he's hurt for an extended period of time, fine. But anyone crazy enough to think he was going to be on the mound for more than 15 starts once out of Atlanta should be pantsed in public. Last year was a fluke.

Then he should've signed with an NL Central team (Astros, Cards, Brewers, Pirates) where he is successfull AGAINST CUBS PITCHING.

Leiter. That guy just sucks now. Didn't the Marlins just release him? I mean, talk about money down the drain.

I have to go with Adrian Beltre here. Seattle got enamored by a fluke season and dropped a boatload of cash. You simply don't pay that kind of money based on a one year performance.

Eric Milton doesn't surprise me, nor should he have surprised the Reds if they had done their job. He does not have the stuff for that ballpark and has been a pitcher in decline.

Beltran has struggled in large part due to injury. In addition, I don't think he will have the makeup to exist long term in NY. I think that was a bad move by the Mets, and I think the Yankees' lack of interest suggests that Beltran was not fit for the Big Apple.

Maggs' deal is still a good one for the Tigers. His injury was unforeseen and he appears to be getting his stroke back. The out clause also protects the Tigers, so it remains a good contract, IMO.

I can't remember the others on the list, but I think Beltre is clearly the worst in terms of $$ and production.
