I thought that the writer wrote a really good article considering the assignment he was given. He maybe went a little too far,but in the end, he did the right thing, and spoke not as a reporter but as a human being.

I have mixed emotions about the whole thing because I would love to be able to place blame for the short comings of the Cubs on one human being but that is not realistic. I cannot imagine being Steve Bartman. Although it has been two years now I have wondered about the guy. I think even though poor Steve has been through enough the reporter handled it well as did Mr. Bartman.

Cubs' record with me in attendance:

Home: 8-0

I think we should all pitch in to get this guy tickets to all the Cubs remaining home games :P .

I agree.

In the interest of full disclosure - my last Cubs game was Father's Day '03 (which will change in August of this year). And 6 of those 8 games at Wrigley came in the late 80s/early 90s. But feel free to get me season tickets - I'd be happy to attend every game to help the team.

I wonder about him too. As years pass I find it more and more difficult to differenciate between him and me.

I am Steve Bartman!

I say this because with not a doubt in my mind I would have done the same thing as him. I wouldn't have handled it as well as him. That I know for a fact.

I e-mailed the reporters that named him the day after G6 and told them in very colorful language what a monumental mistake that had just made.

I have lots of different thoughts about Bartman. I'd like to think I wouldn't have done what he did, that I would have known the situation, how crucial every out was, and held everyone back as Alou made what would have been a catch on every highlight reel for 20 years.

I can't say that would have been the case, though.

Bartman was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I hope he has moved on. This article makes it sound like he has. I imagine it bothers him far more than it bothers anyone else. I can't imagine the feeling myself.

That said, I blame Gonzo, Prior, Wood, and the rest of the team FAR more than Bartman. The team could have collapsed just as easily even if they MADE that out... that would have been just as bad.

In the end, maybe we'll be thanking Bartman. If Dusty got us to the World Series, he might have been the Cub's manager for the next 20 years, and I'd rather have a decade of post season play with a World Series victory, than just one trip and 20 years of rotten managing...
