Rather then trading players, why not use our "prospects" more, by getting a manager who will actually play them. I like a lineup that would let Cedeno, Dubois, and even Kelton play more. Rather then getting some older player who could MAYBE help this year, let these young guys get expiereince, and who knows, we may even win!

Potential Managers include:

Bob Brenly (bring grace to the anouncer booth)

Grady Little

Dick Pole

ect

any prospects youd really like to see play, or any imput on new manager possiblities?

Could the Cubs trade Dusty? Seriously. Would it be legal? How would other teams value him?

i would suppose so. the red sox were going to trade kevin youkilis for billy beane (well, beane would have been trading youkilis for himself).

i sent Peter Gammons an email, asking if it is "legal" to trade a manager, GM, trainer, or anyone who isnt a player, for a player, GM, manager ect.

I hope he will respond, but maybe if more people ask it will be answered?

I did some quick back-of-the-envelope analysis, and here's what I have. According to my figures, in a fair exchange which sent Dusty away, we would receive a bag of baseballs and some eye black in return. That is his exact value.

My calculations said a bag for baseballs, so we're on the same page at least.

I'll take Orel Hersheiser. Other than the Cubs, the Rangers are the team I get to see the most of on TV and this guy has the fire that this team needs and he knows how to handle players. Call me crazy, but that's who I want.

Joe Girardi may be a little young, but has the character and smarts to be an excellent manager. He has learned from the best, is a winner, and grew up rooting for the Cubs in Cardinal territory (Peoria, IL).

Dusty can manage players, but can't manage a game. I can easily see Girardi doing a good job managing players and the game.

I'm less and less inclined to believe this aspect of the Baker mythos. The second part, I've got no qualms with.

I don't even think Dusty can manage players. Look at the blowups last year. Look at the lack of concentration. Dusty is worthless.

Next Cub manager: Speier or Little

Lets have a look at this. Does anyone think Speier would make a good manager. Maybe one of the motives the Cubs used to get was he would be a candidate to be future manager. Or just so we would have someone better than Wavin Wendell. Also, I always thought Joe Girardi would make a good manager.

Same as Randolph was being groomed. Yanks wont stand in his way.

I agree. Baker's success in SF was largely due to good teams centered around the best player in the game, Bonds. Baker has no idea how to create a lineup, which these past few days have demonstrated. I say we march on the Tribune towers, asking for Hendry and Baker. They both haven't a clue.
