why wasn't Dubois or Barrett up in that situation with the tying run in the plate?

Forget about this inning now with Neifi up.

Have you seen Dubois bat? He would have struck out faster than Macias, generally Macias at least makes contact. Still pretty pathetic that Dusty's best option in that situtation is Macias.

Macias usually strikes out, too. The difference is that with Dubois, you have a chance for a GS, or the remote chance of a walk. Macias is a poor, poor hitter. That was terrible managing.

Well the stats don't back up your argument. Dubois strikes out roughly 1 out of every 3 times at bat. Macias Strikes out 1 out of every 10.

When Ron Santo starts calling for something to be done, you know its bad. Well Mr. Hendry, if you wish to save the 2005 season, something better happen TODAY, not tomorrow, not seconds before the trading deadline, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dubois is a better hitter than Macias. With Jason, there is at least the threat of damage.

If Lee is out for any extended period of time, a trade probably wouldn't help.

hearing Ronny tonight was real sad...he sounded even more frustrated then us. It's unbelievable how we make these rookie pitchers look like Cy Young canidates.

I'm not gonna have to go with Dubois also in that situation. You need a power bat in that situation.

What did Ronny say? He wants a deal to be made?

He is? So far Dubois has shown nothing other than the propensity to strike out and the inability to hit a breaking pitch. At least Macias generally puts the ball in play. I'm not saying Macias is a good hitter, but makes more contact that Dubios.

I can't believe that Hendry left Dusty with this team. When your best pinch hitter is Macias, you can't fault Dusty for having to use him.

Dustbag can talk all he wants about how this team fights, but I don't see it. This team looks dead. I could handle it if we got shut down by great pitchers, but we have been owned by four losers in a row. You can't just tip your cap to that garbage.

Calling all Corey apologists: please tell us all how it's Baker's fault that he done nothing in the 7-hole tonight. Why this guy is not permanently on the bench until he's traded is a mystery. His lack of production is so predictable it's a joke. This guy stinks, period. Not otmention what apparently were two misjudged balls in center tonight. He is a symbol of all that is wrong with this team.

Honestly, I would just let the season go down the toilet at this point. There are way too many problems with this club that a move or two isn't going to turn this team into a World Series contender. Don't bother mortgaging a part of the future for what's probably a hopeless year. Sell off some guys in the last year of their contracts that other teams might find useful, and do a better job in the offseason of putting a good team on the field for 2006.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure the best option of the bench would have been the back up SS, I think his name is Cedeno or something....

If nothing else, Dusty needs to go before 06'.

our best PH is NOT Macias. That is Baker's fault for having the guy first off of his bench every chance he gets. I was real surprised to see Hairston come in at 2nd today instead of Macias. He has some real weird obsession with Jose. Tonight we had Barrett, Cedeno and Dubois on the bench..all are better options in that situation then Macias was put in. Whenever Hairston doesn't start, hes always on the bench, yet Macias is always the guy Baker chooses to PH for the pitcher. This team is getting so annoying to watch.

It's almost becoming worse to watch then the 2002 team. We have so much more talent offensively then the 2003 team and we have our pitching staff completely healthy, yet were not doing a dang thing to win games.

It's Dusty's fault that Neifi & Corey are getting any playing time right now. They both are flat out awful. Corey should be a PH off the bench and/or defensive replacement late in the game @ best. Some people here think Cedeno should be playing everyday over Neifi. I would be OK with a platoon situation. Neifi 2 starts, Cedeno 2 starts.

It's clear that many of Dusty's decisions this year has cost this team games. The players have to perform, but the manger has to put them in the best possible scenario to succeed & that is not happening.

We are all Cub fans & want to see this team win & suceed, but it might be best if the Cubs continue this torrid play for a week or more, so JH decides he has finally had enough & cans him. I'm not sure if that would happen, but he has 3 guys that are capable of taking over as interim manger right now: Rothchild,Pole & Little.

Where the heck is Cedeno? I mean come on I thought he was going to be called up so that he can be used. What a farce.

Dubois is not a better option. The guy strikes out every third time at bat and has been hitting .225 since the end of April. I know he has high expectations but the reality is that he has been pretty bad.

Hendry has no excuse for leaving Dusty with a pathetic bench. BTW I think Dusty is doint a bad job too, but the bench is not his problem.

I think Hendry is too much of a Dusty a$$ kisser to can him..

The Trib is spending alot of money for this crap, and I doubt they are too happy. I'll go out on a limb and say that if the Cubs win less than 2 of the remaining games before the ASB, Dusty gets the axe.

You think they would eat Dusty's $4M next year that fast? For some reason I think Hendry actually agrees with Dusty's managerial moves. He is the one that supplies Dusty with the players. If Dusty goes Hendry needs to get the Axe on the same day.

Based on the teams performance & the decisions being made by Dusty, boy I hope your right! Maybe the Cubs can salvage some of this season. Is there another Jack McKeon type manager out there?
