I get that game has to change and I've accepted it but some of the new changes (like ghost runners) will always feel like an awkward add to the game.

I was vehemently opposed to the new extra Inning rule but came to accept it fairly quickly. I have not, however, accepted that they are called ghost runners since they are actually there.

I might be in the minority but eff the ghost runner, or any other gimmick, I love a good marathan extra inning game. The longer the better.

I’m with you. I always enjoyed those games.

It doesn’t. Best record and if it is a tie, head to head.

Shows you how much I’ve paid attention to All Star games. This is the first one I watched in over a decade and the ONLY reason was the multiple Cubs.

It's not a gimmick so much as a way to speed up the process. I'm perfectly fine with a tie game in baseball. How often does it happen?

But ties are pointless. Which is why I've accepted the ghost runner.

I will die on that hill with you.  We can see them, they aren't ghosts!

Everyone who has played a wiffle ball game in the backyard knows what a ghost runner is, and MLB's implementation isn't it.

A tie game in an exhibition is fine. No regular season games should end in a tie though.

No fan ever bought a ticket hoping to see a tie.

Nor did they buy a ticket to see a loss. It's baseball; there are 162 games. Sometimes a tie is the proper outcome.

when has a tie ever been a "proper outcome" for a baseball game, whose rules explicitly are written to avoid ties?

It’s never the proper outcome when it can be avoided. The NHL finally realized that. It isn’t like boxing where the scorecards aren’t revealed until after the fight is over. Even then, fans can watch a total banger of a fight that was justified in being scored a draw and they’ll still groan at the outcome.

Why so angry? It’s okay to have different opinions.

They should implement the Swing Off in regular season games too.

If avoiding it ruins the integrity of the game, is it worth it? That's an individual opinion. Mine is it is not worth in a game where a 6-4 record across 162 games gets you to the playoffs.
