That is true, but it was all happening under the covers and the average person wasn't being bombarded with reminders every 5 minutes.  Now it is just another income stream that has to be maximized and all sports broadcasts have been changed accordingly.

Seemingly forever the ads in pro sports seemed hyper focused on getting you to drink and buy a vehicle of some kind, and everything else was just window dressing.

Now it feels like it's mostly gambling, prescriptions and the military.
