Nice comeback when you have no way of proving the Cubs made a mistake in trading for Chapman and had enough without him. He was very good in the playoffs. Only hiccups were a game they were winning 8-2 in the 9th against the Dodgers and for some reason he came in to pitch the 9th. And then game 7 (WS)after pitching 2.2 inning in game 5, pitching again in game 6 and then completely gassed in game 7. That said, they probably don’t even get to a game 7 if he isn’t on the team.

I'm not interested in conversing with you any longer.  Thanks anyway.

Try to stop following me around here.  I'd appreciate it.

I haven't run across this brand of internet tough guy in a while.  Feels like I drove through a tunnel and woke up in 2015.

Hi, how's it going today?  I'm Joj.

I'm no tough guy, at least not on the internet.  Not going to take a bunch of garbage and/or personal attacks.  Here or anywhere else.  Because that's how normal adult life works.

The team's offense came out of nowhere in 2023.  They played over their heads quite a bit.  And, again, we saw the inconsistency in the 2nd half.  There's nothing wrong with admitting that.

By the way, you are completely wrong about my expectations.  You know absolutely nothing about me.

I disagree with you about offensive consistency so that means I don't know baseball and won't be happy with anything even if they sign everyone?  Classic response right there.  Let me guess...you and 2 other mean girls try to chase everyone away?  Is that why this board is so dead?  I'm just trying to give this place a shot, along with a few others.  Very welcoming.  LOL

The Cubs were an excellent offensive team in April. They were a mediocre/bad offensive team in May and June.  If you want to talk about inconsistency, you could point to that, and the whole they dug themselves which turned the whole second half into a playoff chase and eventually decimated the bullpen. From there, in the second half that you mentioned, here's how they went:

  • July: .336 wOBA, 5th in fWAR, 15-11, 150 runs scored, 5.7 runs/game
  • August: .324 wOBA, 10th in fWAR, 18-9, 149 runs scored, 5.5 runs/game
  • September: .336 wOBA, 7th in fWAR, 12-16, 151 runs scored, 5.4 runs/game

What kind of consistency are you realistically expecting here? I really don't think my response came off as a personal attack, even setting aside the fact that we keep posting these numbers and you responded with 'Summarize it in sentence for me' which is...whatever. Outside of the Braves, every contending team I looked at in the NL scored 3 or less runs over 50 times last season. It's just....how baseball works these days.
