  1. Yeah. I'm a kid who doesn't know how baseball works. That's always a cool trope to break out. Nice tactic. As a result I'm chuckling to myself, completely uninterested.
  2. If it's not FA, it's trade. Are you talking Bregman?
  3. My point has been made, not worried about it. So, what, now we don't know what a star is? Maybe we should argue over the definition of, "star" for a few pages instead of seeing the forest for the trees. Nobody's getting worked up.
  4. This just struck me as telling. Nothing wrong with your post, no need for response. Just that we are fans of this major market team with a middling roster. The FO is facing a make or break situation and many of us are hoping that this means they'll make ONE big move rather than continuing to act like the Marlins. I mean, that's just depressing. Dang.
  5. His most recent performance was 2024 where Paredes put up 2 WAR. So, no. The differences between Fangraphs and BaseballRef's predictions are negligible (let's not talk about WRC+ and OPS+ lol) so when you see someone intentionally cherry picking between the two like some in the thread, warning bells do start ringing. To say nothing about the obvious line between predictions and results Either way, he's around 3. ish. Which is fine. The problem with Paredes was never WAR. Or any stat, really. It's just that the team needs a star and 3B is one of the few positions where it makes sense to upgrade. That's it. We can sit around and justify everyone's job on the roster using whatever versions of WAR and feel great about it. Then they go out and win 81 games while management blames late slumps and injury. 🙄
  6. I'm viewing Paredes as a 2.5 WAR guy because that's what he's been outside of 2023 (more AB's, essentially). To me, that makes more sense than going with the anomaly, especially when he failed to back it up in 2024. (went right back to 2.5). It's all offense, Paredes is essentially 0.0 dWAR. Hey, maybe he's a 3. That's pretty good. I also want Soto. But falling back to the, "really good set of position players" doesn't quite track since that's essentially what they did the last two seasons. Upgrading someone like Morel shouldn't be the standard of excellence around here 🙂
  7. I've watched you type this several times. Completely untrue. Nobody has personal feelings about any of these guys. Because nobody knows these guys personally. It's obviously all about the performance.
  8. Then I suppose it's a good thing that posting on a nearly dead baseball forum is a WHOLLY UNSERIOUS ENDEAVOR. 😉
  9. Acquiring Paredes was an admission that it was a position of extreme need and wanted to make it seem like they were actually trying to add talent. But it also meant that they are still trying to fool everybody into thinking another cheap, mediocre journeyman is a potential superstar. Having Isaac Paredes around as filler isn't the worst thing in the world, unless they use him as an excuse to continue ignoring the obvious offensive need. .240 with 20 Hr's is probably fine if you like 80 wins. The batting eye makes him attractive as a bench/platoon type. I thought he was a better player in the minors (less HR, better hitting) I can't see Paredes netting anything worthwhile in trade.
  10. Bellinger did, "fine" sure, but he was supposed to be the biggest star. Which is the real problem.
  11. Lol my first thought too. Some girl from ATL misses that hot guy that used to be around.
  12. Doesn't pass the sniff test, Swanson is untradeable. I don't see anything on MLB traderumors. Did you just make this up?
  13. Willson Contreras. Lol. You serious, Clarks?
