Hope that Canario Grand slam lights a fire under these guys and gets this game gets them their confidence back. Moments like that can definitely be a mood booster for the clubhouse.

Like I mentioned earlier, what really kicked off that huge run that got us into the playoff race was a game against the Nationals when the Cubs were scuffling coming into the game (5-9 last 14) and piled it on in the late innings of a blowout win.  From that point the Cubs went on a 15-4 run to put them firmly into the heart of the playoff race

Cubs now have the 6th best playoff odds in the NL, a hair behind Miami for 5th per FG:

Phillies - 99.5%
DBacks - 65.1%
Miami - 51.7%
Cubs - 51.6%
Reds - 27.3%
Giants - 5.3%

Back to Canario...

I know he still has holes in his swing. I know he is going to strike out a lot. I know he isn't going to play every day right now

But man he just looks dangerous at the plate. With all the injuries right now, if it's a choice between him or Patrick Wisdom in the lineup, I would pencil Canario in every time.

To crush to balls like he did last night while getting just one look at live pitching in the last 2 weeks is pretty impressive.

Crushed, but his right hand actually came off the bat on that swing. At first, I wasn't sure he had enough contact to drive it out, but that shows just how strong that kid is.
