Can’t believe in the middle of a playoff race and after playing 100 win baseball for 2 months they lose 8 of 10 games with the offense sucking against almost exclusively terrible pitching. Just can’t be believed

Should be interesting to see what changes are made after this collapse is completed.

Sign a 4th starter who tops out at 92mph, a formerly good, 33 year old 1B, and another catcher to block Amaya

Surely they will be just enough for the Cubs to be on the fringe of the Wild Card race if everything breaks their way.

Is anyone on the Cubs going to show any concern or seriousness about the severity of the situation? I’m not saying they should be acting panicked but the general comment after games lately has been something like “aww shucks, we’ll start playing better soon. I think we did a lot of things well, just couldn’t finish it off”

Probably not, but what good would it do anyway?  I would say we're more likely to get Ross belittling a reporter over a legitimate question.

I dunno, we obviously don’t see what’s behind the scenes but the general demeanor of the team doesn’t seem to match the fact that they’ve blown a 4.5 game lead to out of the playoffs in a 10 day span

That's the thing with baseball though. All the ra ra speeches in the world probably aren't going to get a team to suddenly start hitting the ball.  When a team doesn't hit, they look dead.  And this looks like a dead ass team right now.

The player David Ross didn't believe that.  Remember how he was such a hardass that demanded accountability and effort every game and helped drive a former moderator off this board?

But again, we have no idea whats going on behind the scenes, I'm just saying for a collapse they look pretty chill overall.  But not sure that means anything.

It not necessarily change that they need this offseason,  it upgrades that they've always needed.

The majority of this roster have always needed to be upgraded, and outside of a few with the position players and a few with the pitchers, they dont have any must keep guys on this roster.

So, if they do it right and actually try to put together a true contending roster, then the change should be to most of this roster.

I don't think I know that story. Or maybe I knew it and forgot.

I agree though that what is being said behind the scenes could be completely different than what we are made privy to.

Dansby must be ready to go home.

he got his $177 mil.

92.7% to make the playoffs on 9/6. Out of the playoffs by 9/17. hard to do!

GRCubsFan chose "David Ross is an horsefeathers who is hated by his teammates" as a hill to die on and the board mocked him so much he just disappeared and never returned.

I thought Dansby was supposed to be the hypercompetitive guy that hated to lose and has veteran savvy from being on those Braves teams.  Instead he's basically leading the charge for this collapse with terrible hitting and inexplicable defensive miscues that can be directly tied to losses.

looked up the details on the 2004 collapse for obvious reasons.

cubs were 2 up on astros for WC spot when Latroy Hawkins gave up a two out, 9th inning 3 run hr to the mets. cubs go on to lose 7 of 8, astros end with 7 straight wins.

as brutal as I remember it!
