Yeah they were one play away from sealing the deal. That 4th down I thought they might just get the stop.

Lot of illini fans saying Michigan should have gotten flagged for a pick on that 4th down and looking at the replays they may be right.

I’ll take the W. Looked ugly, illini are the second team in the last 2 seasons to physically dominate both Michigan lines, the other being Georgia. Illinois is legit, don’t care what their record says.

Did not expect that close of game, thought Michigan was going to win quite handily nevertheless, Illini will roll over Northwestern next week to finish a very good 8-4. Would have been great to see the Illini in the Big Ten Championship vs. Michigan or OSU, they'd be far more competitive than Purdue. Michigan or OSU is going to score 50+ on Purdue in what's going to be a joke of a football game.

Right, wrong or indifferent, conference employed officials are not making game changing calls against CFP hopefuls ever.

Ohio State apparently saw UM struggle and decided to raise the stakes

I was yelling that in real time; dude took out 2 corners. That game was equal parts Michigan playing poorly and Illini playing better than I thought they would. I’ve seen enough to now say Michigan/OSU next week is either going to end 51-47 or 13-11. Either way, I think Michigan is the better team if everyone is healthy.

I didn’t notice it because my brain is trained to only look for penalties against the opponent and I was too focused on Michigans undefeated season being on the line but seeing the replays it should have been called.

Health will be the major factor going into next week. At the end of the game Michigan was missing their top 2 RBs, the 3rd string was hobbled, 40% of the offensive line was out, their top 2 TEs were out and their best pass rusher was out. The running back that caught the pick play pass with the game on the line was a walk on. Ohio State has been struggling with injuries to their skill players all year too. Because Corum was able to play one snap in the 2nd half I’m feeling confident he can play but at what capacity we’ll see.

Meanwhile Bielema is still upset about it

He's got a point, I know this happens all time in the NFL but, at least there's an attempt of subtlety, that was blatantly clear, #18 was never running a route, his sole purpose was to pick off as many defenders as possible.

USC and Tennessee might combine to make Ohio State vs Michigan a purely seeding game a week ahead of time.

That's what I get for having the thought that it might be cool to have one last truly important and memorable regular season matchup of unbeatens before CFP expansion.

I don’t think that’s the case. Clemson sucks but the committee already rated them over Michigan when both teams were undefeated. Clemson would be 12-1 with a conference title. Their best win is currently at number 19 FSU and their loss is at number 18 ND. The magnitude of the loss may be a factor. Michigans best win would be home vs number 11 PSU and their loss at number 2 OSU.

The other wins Clemson has have all gotten much worse and their struggles against those teams will be a factor but the committee is unpredictable and I could definitely see them taking Clemson over UM. If it’s OSU that may be different.

That said I don’t think Tennessee or USC is losing tonight. We’ll see

UM and OSU getting scares ahead of The Game is going to make next week must-see TV

Overall, weird week. Lots of “should be blowouts” are close (and Tennessee is about to lose)

2 options here...

1. Some intern or whatever actually does Bret's tweeting and fired this one off without approval.

2. He tweeted it from a pretty tough place after losing his mom the other day and then losing a chance to beat a top 5 team on the road.
