FML. We owe Orlando next year's first round pick too, right? Does that have any protection in case we end up in the lottery?

It's top 4 protected

I wonder if I can place a bet that the Bulls end up in the lottery with the #5 pick.

More likely 7th. That's our spot

so they were all straight up lying about his health the last several weeks? I don't understand

You seem surprised that the bulls were hiding or mishandling an injury?

i believe that, but i'm surprised that zach has been talking so much about how great he feels. there's no way this is load management. either he tweaked the knee again or injured something else. but why lie?

LaVine says there is no pain and it’s just load management

A couple hours later Donovan says there is soreness that came out of some “intense practices” they had after their last preseason game.

Embarrassing

ayo has quickened his release and is hunting his shot which is awesome

Coby runs hot or cold but looks frisky on defense

pat doesnt even touch the ball in the half court or run hard down the floor just floats in the corner really dire stuff

ddr has the most beautiful game

I wish he was 27 years old so badly.

true but he didn’t have this game when he was 27

there hasn’t been a guy that has added to his half court offense like this at his age since kobe

truly remarkable horsefeathers

Man, what a game last night. No LaVine, no Ball, on the road at Miami, and we come out with a win? Hell yeah.

My brain told me to expect at least a slight drop-off this season for DeRozan but I'm not so sure he won't be even better after last night.

Vooch was great in pre-season playing more in the post with his back to the basket but reverted to last season Vooch which was a bit disappointing. But he attacked the boards with a vengeance and played better D than I remember from most of last season.

Ayo is already showing major improvements. I love that kid so much.

Dragic & Drummond are going to be major upgrades from last year's bench. And am I the only surprised to learn that Drummond just turned 29 a couple months ago? For some reason I though he was at least early 30's.

Caruso is Caruso. Dude is solid and you know exactly what to expect from him each night. Just need to keep him healthy as much as possible.

PWill is frustrating. He showed some flashes in pre-season of what he can be but he disappears too much in regular season games. Starting to lose hope with him. I have to remind myself that he just turned 21 in August so maybe the light will still come on eventually. Ayo is about 18 months older that Pat.

Coby seemed to show that he's becoming a more all around player but I want to see him become more consistent with his shot.

I know it's a big if but if we can be healthy down the stretch this team could be a very tough out in the playoffs. Problem is we still don't have anyone to match up with Giannis.

Ayo might be really good.

It’s only year 2, but he already has to be considered one of the biggest League-wide scouting whiffs in modern NBA history.

2nd rounders who exceed expectations tend to fall into one of three categories:

1. Undersized try-hard bigs - Draymond Green.

2. Small tweener guards - usually seniors from elite college programs - that shoot the lights out - Jalen Brunson.

3. Euros who were clearly under scouted - Jokic.

Ayo doesn’t fit any of those categories. Generally guys of his size, skill set and college pedigree are either lottery picks or have some sort of fatal flaw to their game that keeps them off the NBA floor.

I have to wonder if he was still suffering from concussion issues during the pre-draft workouts.

In terms of 2nd round picks he reminds me of Gilbert Arenas. Both 6'4" guards leaving notable college programs early (Arizona and Illinois), projected to be late-teens to end of 1st round picks but dropped into 2nd round. I know their games aren't perfectly similar but their stats were actually similar their rookie year. Areans made a jump his 2nd year and then bolted to Washington where he continued to improve into an All-Star.

He technically wasn't a second rounder, but only an 8 pick difference from Ayo : Jimmy Butler. Also doesn't fit those categories you mentioned.

Maybe theres other examples too, but in spirit there isn't a huge talent difference most years in that 20-40 range. Then things tend to drop off a cliff and there's little difference between 40 and the top UDFAa.

I didn't watch the game and don't get to watch many games, but the more I read about Ayo the more I like him. The kid just knows how to play the game and keeps a level head every minute. It's awesome. Fantastic pick (and luck that he was there) by AKME.

Hardly any words can be added about DeRozan. Dude's a badass.

One thing I really loved is when Drummond got a T late in the game with the Bulls clinging to a 5-6 point lead it was Ayo who got on him about keeping his cool. He's already starting to show leadership skills even with the vets. I've also seen several times how he's always asking questions of the vets & coaches just trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible.

That exact clip was in a Tweet embedded into an article about last night's game. IIRC he did that several times with DeRozan and/or LaVine last year too.
