Has anyone seen any reason to think Velazquez can potentially be a useful Major League piece? Almost 200 at bats in, I definitely haven't been impressed.

On a normal team he would still be in the minor league. I think it’s a bit too early to write him off.

Not a comment on his viability but holy horsefeathers did he get fucked by the ump tonight in the 6th. Had a walk to load the bases if not for the sympathy strike on a 3-0 pitch about 3-4 inches below the zone. Then racked up yet another K.

 

He always was gonna be a guy who probably wouldn't put it together for a couple years. Even if he turns out to merely be a lefty masher that works still because the Cubs are largely useless against them.
